This is exactly the story with one of the most famous bhajan, ghazal singers, Anup Jalota, popularly known as ‘Bhajan Samraat’. The 65-year-old singer whom we had always seen on stage shows and music CD covers until now, will be seen in a different light altogether! Why do we say so? Anup Jalota is dating a 28-year-old singer, Jasleen Matharu and the duo has entered the Bigg Boss 12 house as a couple, but that’s not all! Until the show had started, Jasleen’s father had no idea about his daughter dating Anup Jalota!
In an interview with News18, Jasleen's father Kesar Matharu reacted to the news of her relationship with Anup Jalota. Defending his daughter, he shared, “This news was a shocker for me as well as for my family. However, I don’t want to comment anything on her personal life till I meet her. She is on the Bigg Boss 12 house and want her to stay positive and emerge as the winner of the show.”
Soon after the world heard of this affair with such a vast age difference between the duo, Jasleen and Anup ji became a victim of merciless trolling. So much so, that people started to compare their relationship to that of Priyanka Chopra-Nick Jonas, Milind Soman-Ankita Konwar’s age gap! Speaking about trolls, Jasleen’s father shared, “I am not at all disturbed by the online bashing. She is a trained singer and had done various stage shows with many popular Bollywood singers. We belong to a very reputed family and my daughter is already a prominent figure in the industry and there is no point of seeking cheap publicity.”
Speaking about online jokes further, he shared, “People do give cheap comment when they see someone flourishing in their life. One needs to face every situation with pride and move on. She should only concentrate on the show and should be completely let everything go and should not be affected with any remark.” And further added, “There are many other contestants who have controversial past, my daughter has not done anything wrong. I wish her all the best for the show and be an inspiration for the society.”
Wow! Isn’t that encouraging? Before entering the Bigg Boss house, Jasleen had opened up about her relationship with Anup Jalota, with The Times of India. Speaking about the same, she had shared, “This is going to come as a huge shock to my parents and friends as no one is aware of my relationship with Anup Jalota ji. We have been dating each other for the last three and a half years. We usually don’t get time to spend with each other in the outside world due to our busy schedules, but now with the help of Bigg Boss, we will get to do so. Also, we will get to know if we can stay together forever.”
Speaking if their wide age gap has ever posed as a blockage in their relationship, Jasleen had shared, “Age gap has never bothered us and now once we go inside the house we will get to know the real reaction of people about our relationship. Since until now, nobody knew anything. So, whether good, bad or ugly, we will get reactions from the house."
