Be it heavily embroidered lehengas, anarkalis or easy-breezy desi ethnic wears, Janhvi’s traditional sartorial choices are an epitome of comfort, elegance and grace. And we can say, that she totally inherited it from her mom, Sridevi. Remember when Janhvi slew Sridevi’s old saree look, to receive the posthumous National Award for 'Best Actress' on behalf of her late mother Sridevi? We have often seen sisters borrowing clothes of each other but seeing Janhvi wearing her mother’s clothes makes happy tears rolling down our eyes!
Yet again, the Dhadak debutant, Janhvi graced Sridevi’s old dupatta and wore it ditto like her mother. Janhvi styled the beautiful rose printed pink dupatta with a solid white kurta, just like her mother. Like mother, like daughter, we say! This has surely touched our nostalgic chords, and Janhvi continuing her mother’s legacy has left us all teary-eyed.
Janhvi has always maintained that her mother, Sridevi was more like a friend to her and she misses her a lot. At the Vogue Beauty Awards 2018, Janhvi felt weird walking the ramp without her mother’s hand to hold on to. She got emotional and expressed, “It’s a special feeling. But it’s a little weird too because I’m so used to accompanying mom and dad to these things… I always had their hands to hold. So, I don’t know whose hand to hold. I am a little nervous.”
In a throwback interview, Sridevi talked about her daughters and was quoted as saying, "Janhvi, I feel is more like me - absolutely obedient. Both my children are extremely attached to us. Janhvi seeks more attention from me while Khushi can manage things on her own. Though Janhvi's grown up now, sometimes I still have to feed her. She won't eat properly at certain times, so I have to make sure that she eats properly. Sometimes she tells me to put her to sleep so all these nakhras she does. Janhvi too shared her camaraderie with her mom, and said, "Of course. I could always be the baby with her. When I’d wake up, the first thing I’d do was ask for her. I’d need her to put me to sleep sometimes and she literally had to feed me. The day before she left for the wedding, I had to shoot, but I couldn’t sleep, so I was like, “I need you to come and put me to sleep.” But she was packing, so by the time she came to me I was half asleep. But I could feel her patting my head. I’ve always been very bad at that. Khushi is very maternal with me. I am a full baby. She takes care of me. Now she comes and puts me to sleep sometimes."
Years back, Janhvi wrote a heartfelt letter for Sridevi and shared how proud she was of her mother. She stated, “Dear Mom, growing up hearing about your aura, dedication, sincerity and inspirational grit to be the best and achieve the most always made me wish I was present to witness it all. Through all that you have done in your life, you have made me the proudest daughter in the world, and I love you the most.
