Everything at home is sorted when our mom is taking care of things. But when she goes on a vacation with friends or to her parents’ house and the house is left with the husband and kids to be taken care off, it becomes a mess. That’s when we realise how difficult it is to even decide the menu, let alone cooking the meals. How difficult it is to find that top which you had washed yesterday only when you’re getting late for work. Taking care of paying the bills and salaries of the house helps, becomes a task which seems more troublesome than the office work. Imagine if that is your situation for a week or so, when your mom is not around then what will happen if you have to live your whole life without her. Even the thought of living a life without her sends shivers down our spines! (Also Read: Suhana Khan Turns Into Princess Jasmine In Her Unseen Birthday Picture, Reveals Her Nickname)
Unfortunately, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor are going through this tough phase since their mom, Sridevi’s demise. It was on February 24, 2018, when the nation had woken up to the news of the legendary actress, Sridevi's unfortunate demise and it had really broken everyone's heart. The demise of Sridevi had created a void in the Kapoor family that can never be filled though they’re trying to cope with the loss and move on in their lives but no single day goes by when they don’t remember her.
It was a few months after Sridevi’s demise, her elder daughter, Janhvi Kapoor had made her debut in Bollywood and since then, she has been working round the clock. With the pandemic lockdown, everyone got a chance to slow down in life and spend some quality time with their families. Janhvi too, made the most of this time and is spending her quarantine with father, Boney Kapoor and sister, Khushi Kapoor. The lockdown has made her realise that people of the house depend on her a lot more since her mom, Sridevi’s demise.
In an interview with the Filmfare, Janhvi Kapoor opened up on becoming the lady of the house post her mother, Sridevi’s demise and remarked, “I don’t think I have become the lady of the house because I'm very childish. But during this lockdown, I'm understanding how much people at home depend on me a lot more. Because I haven't been home this much for the past 2 years. Now all of sudden I'm keeping track of what Papa is eating, or why Khushi is sleeping so long, and how they are going to get vegetables and if they are sanitizing everything properly or what the protocols are. I was thinking If I wasn't here I don't know what would have been happening. I think they would have managed. I think the responsibility has just dawned on me that they do depend on me a bit.” (Also Read: Janhvi Kapoor Opens Up On Her Bond With Sister, Khushi Kapoor, Calls Her Sensible And Protective)
Be it heavily embroidered lehengas, anarkalis or easy-breezy desi ethnic wears, Janhvi Kapoor’s traditional sartorial choices are an epitome of comfort, elegance and grace. And we can say, that she had totally inherited it from her mom, Sridevi. Remember when Janhvi slew Sridevi’s old saree look, to receive the posthumous National Award for 'Best Actress' on behalf of her late mother, Sridevi? We have often seen sisters borrowing clothes of each other but seeing Janhvi wearing her mother’s clothes makes happy tears rolling down our eyes!
The fans believe that with acting talent, Janhvi Kapoor has also inherited impressive fashion sense from her mother, Sridevi and she has been charming her way into the hearts of the audience with her passion and love for her work. In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Janhvi Kapoor had commented on the constant comparison with her late mother. When asked if she feels the pressure to match up to her mother’s stature, Janhvi had stated, “I think people need to accept that I’m a different person from my mother. There’s a section of society which has been able to do that with Dhadak, but there are people who couldn’t make that differentiation and they still look for Sridevi in me. Maybe after more of my work comes out, they’ll understand I’m a different type of actor and I’ll make different choices.”
When asked, “If given a chance, would you want to recreate her magic onscreen in the remake of any of her films?” Janhvi Kapoor had retorted, “I don’t think that anyone can recreate that magic. No one can. Also, when something has been done so well, I don’t know if it’s right to try to attempt to do it again.” Speaking about the nepotism debate being at peak during her debut in Bollywood, Janhvi had said, “Hopefully, my work will do that. I know for some, Dhadak wasn’t reason enough to end the debate. I don’t deny nepotism does exist. It’s a reality in our industry, and every other profession. The doctor that I visit, his son is also a doctor but no one is holding a morcha outside their clinic that ‘Nahin yeh toh nepotism hai, main nahin aane wala yahan ilaaj ke liye’. I understand there’s a sense of alienation and a bit of judgment.” (Also Read: Sridevi Had Named Her Daughter, Janhvi Kapoor After This Character From Her Hit Film)
