James Handy's Death Case Takes Turn As Michael Gledhill Faces Murder Charge After His Arrest

James Handy recently died on June 3, 2026. The actor was stabbed in Los Angeles by Michael Gledhill, the son of Handy’s girlfriend, Wendy Glenhill. James was active in the entertainment industry since 1977. He started his journey on the small screen and gained recognition for portraying Lt. Phillip ‘Buck’ Rogers in Our Family Honor. He was a part of films such as Arachnophobia, Jumanji, Unbreakable, and more.

Michael Gledhill has been charged in James Handy’s stabbing case

James Handy was discovered at his residence in Los Angeles, and he was stabbed in the chest. Although Handy was hospitalised, he succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, a press release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on June 5, 2026, confirmed that Michael Gledhill has been charged in the case. The press release revealed Michael’s date of birth as February 16, 1982. It stated that he has been charged with a count of murder alongside an allegation of using the knife as a weapon. The press release included a statement from the Los Angeles County District Attorney, Nathan J. Hochman, which reads:

“This is not how anyone’s life should end, stabbed in the chest and left dying in the front yard of a home. The victim, James Handy, deserved to live out his later years enjoying what he had worked so hard for and enjoying it with those he loved and cared about. Like all murder victims, his life mattered and the person who inexplicably and violently took it must be held accountable for his actions.”

The press release says that Michael Gledhill might be sentenced to 26 years if he is convicted, and prosecutors are asking for bail to be set at USD 2 million. The Robbery-Homicide Division of the Los Angeles Police Department is still investigating the matter.

Michael Gledhill’s neighbours have previously opened up about his behaviour

James Handy’s dead body was found by the cops when they received a 911 call from someone, who claimed that he was the “son of man” and he had “killed the man of sin.” Michael Gledhill allegedly surrendered himself to the authorities after stopping a few police officers. As of this writing, the motive behind the incident remains a mystery.

On the other hand, Michael’s mother, Wendy, appeared for an interview with The California Post after the incident. Wendy expressed grief over everything that happened, saying that she loves James and her son. She claimed that she cannot believe her son’s actions. Furthermore, Michael Gledhill’s neighbours opened up about his behaviour, with a few people claiming that he appeared weird for most of the time. One of the neighbours, identified as Joheina Quibol, also said that he used to be paranoid and continued:

“He looked really rugged… he looks like he doesn’t really change his clothes.”

James Handy's last film was Top Gun: Maverick, released in 2022. He was featured as 'Jimmy' in the film, which had Tom Cruise playing the lead role. He even appeared in the 2017 film, Logan, which was one of the most successful films of the year. James Handy additionally gained recognition for portraying the main role in other TV shows like Melrose Place, NYPD Blue, Profiler, Alias, and The Young and the Restless.
