James Handy's GF's Identity Revealed, Breaks Silence On His Tragic Death, 'I Loved James And Son..'

Top Gun: Maverick actor, James Handy tragically passed away at 81. He was brutally stabbed by his girlfriend’s son, Michael Gledhill. He was found unconscious with multiple stab wounds in his chest in the front yard of his Los Angeles home. The Los Angeles Police Department revealed that the Top Gun: Maverick star was killed on June 3, 2026, in Tarzana, California. Amid this, James’ girlfriend’s identity has been revealed, who broke her silence about the following.

According to a report by The New York Post, James Handy’s girlfriend is Wendy Gledhill. She is currently 76. For the first time, she broke her silence about James’ tragic death to The California Post outside her home this morning. She expressed her grief over James’ passing. Wendy’s son, Michael, has been arrested and charged with one count of murder. Speaking to The California Post, Wendy shared her disbelief over her son’s involvement in the crime. She was quoted as saying:

"I’m just trying to make it through one day at a time, a minute at a time. I loved James and my son. I still can’t believe it. I can’t believe my son did it. I’m just trying to…"

Michael Gledhill's neighbour described him as being paranoid

Michael Gledhill, who is the suspect in James Handy’s murder, was described as paranoid by his neighbour, Joheina Quibol. She stated that he looked rugged as if he had hardly changed his clothes. Recalling an interaction between James Handy and Michael Gledhill, Joheina called it bizarre as the latter allegedly came over and began asking the former about the cameras installed inside the house. She added that Michael may have struggled with mental health issues. She was quoted as saying:

"He looked really rugged. He looks like he doesn’t really change his clothes. He is paranoid."

James Handy was born in March 1945 in New York City. He was a prolific American actor. He discovered his love for acting after being cast in a series of plays at university. After his discovery, James began studying both English and Drama. He made his place in the hearts of the audience who loved his impeccable acting in both films and television shows. His notable works include K-9, K-11, Logan, Unbreakable, Jumanji, 15 Minutes, Brighton Beach Memoirs, The Rocketeer, and The Verdict. He rose to international fame with the film, Top Gun: Maverick.

James kept his personal life away from the media glare. Thus very less in know about his personal life. According to reports, he was in a live-in relationship with Wendy Gledhill, and they lived together in his home in Tarzana, California. In fact, Wendy’s son, Michael also lived in the same house. James and Wendy had been together for many years and had been sharing the Tarzana home long before the incident happened. James was allegedly killed by Michael, who reportedly called 911 and told dispatchers, "I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin."

Apart from his acting career, James Handy also served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was just 21 when James fought alongside the 196 Lightning Brigade in Tay Ninh between August 1966 and July 1967. Recalling the time period, James told in a 2013 interview:

"We wound up getting into heavy combat for 27 days while we were in the field. It was pretty horrific. At first, when you’re over there, you’re in a combat zone and it doesn’t really register because it doesn’t seem real. You’re 10,000 miles away from home, you’re in this jungle and woods. Parts of the country were beautiful, but at night it got so dark, you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face."
