Is Tom Cruise's Pride Hurt After Breakup From Ana De Armas? 'He Was Desperate To Marry...'

If you are a die-hard fan of actor, Tom Cruise, you might be aware that he is currently a heartbroken man. According to reports, the Mission Impossible actor is struggling with the end of his relationship with actress, Ana de Armas. The duo was allegedly together for only a short while, 8 months to be exact. While rumours of their split have been circulating for some time, many sources close to the situation have since claimed that Tom Cruise played a major role in the downfall of their relationship. Here's all we know. 

Were Tom Cruise's high standards the reason for their alleged split? 

Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas seemed like they were on the track to become Hollywood's IT couple. Over the past year, the couple had been spotted together on several occasions, fueling speculation that they were officially dating. However, according to insider reports, while they appeared to be a compatible couple publicly, their bond was quite strained in private. As problems piled up, the duo eventually called it quits after almost a year of dating.

According to a source cited by Rob Shuter's #ShuterScoop, Tom "adored" Ana. This adoration manifested in the form of micromanaging every detail of not only her personal life but also her career. The 37-year-old actress allegedly initially felt flattered by the amount of attention Tom was giving her. Over time, however, Tom's micromanaging became the very reason that led her to feel overwhelmed. After feeling suffocated in the relationship, Ana finally decided to end things with Tom.  

To give an idea of the pair's dynamic, an insider stated that Tom "acted like a director, not a boyfriend." The insider also revealed that for “every dinner, every outfit, every weekend plan, he had notes." And this quickly became very exhausting for Ana.

While sources close to the duo are making it clear that it was Ana's choice to walk away from the relationship first, publicly, Tom is trying to position their split on his terms. According to an insider, Tom is telling people it was his decision to pull the plug on their 8-month relationship. In the exact words of the insider: 

“Tom’s telling people he made the decision to pull the plug, Ana wasn’t up to his standards, and he’s looking for someone with more charisma and life experience.” 

Many close to the 63-year-old actor have been wondering if he will ever find “The One”. This is because Tom has had a very long and public relationship history. For those unversed, his three-year marriage to Mimi Rogers ended in 1990. Soon after, this was followed by a divorce from Nicole Kidman, ending their 11-year marriage in 2001. He later also spent three years together with Penélope Cruz before marrying Katie Holmes in 2005. Unfortunately, this marriage also ended in 2012, when Katie filed for divorce.  

Sources note that Ana was the first relationship Tom had in a while since his marriage to Katie collapsed. Being one of the biggest movie stars in the world, his pride has definitely been hurt now that Ana has also walked away from him. One insider claimed: 

“He was desperate to marry her, so everyone knows he’s the one who got dumped. He was too intense for her, and now he’s back at square one.”
