Cillian Murphy needs no introduction. He rose to fame with his role as 'J. Robert Oppenheimer', in the epic biographical thriller film, Oppenheimer. He received wider acclaim for his role as 'Tommy Shelby' in the period drama series, Peaky Blinders. According to the latest reports, Cillian is all set to reprise his iconic role in the upcoming Netflix feature film, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. The rumours have been rife that Cillian would make his presence in the Harry Potter reboot series. Here’s how he reacted to the buzz.

There have been speculations surrounding Cillian Murphy’s possible entry in the Harry Potter reboot series. According to the buzz, Cillian has stepped into the shoes of the villain, 'Lord Voldemort'. Originally, the role was played by actor, Ralph Fiennes. The rumour surrounding Cillian’s appearance as 'Lord Voldemort' began in January 2026, when Ralph Fiennes allegedly shared that the Oppenheimer fame had already gotten the part. He told Let’s Talk Film that his part in the film had been filled. In a video, Ralph stated, "I think Cillian Murphy is very good. A very good choice," further fuelling the speculation. In a recent interview with The Times, Cillian set the record straight. In his words:

"I’m categorically not. Can you make that the headline?"

The Harry Potter reboot series is currently filming in the UK. The much-anticipated HBO series is expected to be released in 2027. Child actors, Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout, and Arabella Stanton have stepped in as 'Harry Potter', 'Ron Weasley', and 'Hermione Granger'. Earlier, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson essayed 'Harry Potter', 'Ron Weasley', and 'Hermione Granger' and became the fan favourite characters.

Alongside the child actors, the series also stars Janet McTeer as 'Professor McGonagall', John Lithgow as 'Headmaster Dumbledore', Nick Frost as 'Hagrid', Paul Whitehouse as Hogwarts caretaker, 'Argus Filch', Johnny Flynn as 'Lucius Malfoy', Warwick Davis as 'Filius Flitwick', and Paapa Essiedu as 'Severus Snape'. It is worth mentioning that Warwick Davis is the only actor who is reprising his role from the film series. Reportedly, the makers are filming the first and second seasons together, so there won’t be a huge gap between the two seasons.

"And it was around the same time I met my wife. She came on tour with us. It was so exciting, 20 years ago or whatever it was — we were all just kids, trying to find our way — but such a special, special time."
