After more than three months of her abduction, Nancy Guthrie's case remains active without a suspect. But it has not stopped the case from drawing national attention, especially due to her connection to Savannah Guthrie, co-anchor of NBC's Today. However, things might soon change, as the investigators are reviewing new CCTV footage from a nearby home. Incidentally, it caught the image of a masked individual moving through the neighborhood around the time of the kidnapping. Although authorities have not confirmed whether the man is linked to the case, it has sparked fresh hope.
The new surveillance footage reportedly found at a house nearly a mile from Nancy Guthrie's home near Tucson has sparked fresh hope. According to reports, the video shows a masked person moving near the neighborhood. Although the officials have not formally identified the person or confirmed whether he is the same person seen in earlier footage near Nancy's home, the incident has piqued onlookers' curiosity.

At the same time, the latest video is important because the earlier doorbell footage from Nancy's home had shown a similar armed masked man outside her property. He was seen just before her kidnapping at night, which has established his direct connection to the case. For those unaware, the original footage was released by the FBI in February 2026. It has become one of the strongest pieces of evidence in the investigation. In turn, the new footage might help investigators build a strong timeline of the suspect. Former FBI profiler Jim Clemente told NewsNation Journalist, Brian Entin that the right records could help identify the suspect "in a matter of weeks".

Jim Clemente suggested that the kidnapping may not have been random. Instead, he believes the suspect may have been trying to target Savannah but could not reach her directly. It made Nancy an easy target for him. According to Jim Clemente, reviewing Savannah's digital communication history, like emails, messages, threats, or suspicious contacts, might reveal the identity of the suspect. He believes that someone related to Savannah might have shifted the focus on her mother for revenge, intimidation, or emotional benefit.

Jim's theory has attracted particular attention because of the kidnapping's unusual nature. Nancy was taken from her home at night. At the same time, the blood found outside her home matched her DNA, confirming a violent struggle had taken place between her and the abductor. Authorities also noted that her pacemaker stopped transmitting around the time of the abduction, which could mark the exact timeline of the crime.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pima County Sheriff's Department have continued to investigate the case jointly. According to the officials, several pieces of forensic evidence, including DNA samples and hair collected from the crime scene, have been sent to the FBI Lab for advanced testing. Yet, no suspect has been identified. Meanwhile, investigators are still processing thousands of tips, including ransom-related messages sent to media outlets. In fact, the Guthrie family has also increased the pressure on the public by offering a USD 1 million reward for information leading to Nancy's recovery.
