As Border 2 is all set to hot the big screen on January 23, 2026, all eyes are on its release. The film, which will carry on the iconic legacy of J.P. Dutta’s 1997 war drama, Border, will have a stellar cast. However, there has been a lot of buzz online that Akshaye Khanna, who was seen in the previous instalment, will also reprise his role in Border 2.

Is Akshaye Khanna a part of Border 2?

As the buzz about Akshaye Khanna being a part of Border 2 gains momentum, producer, Nidhi Dutta clears the air and reveals the truth. In a conversation with Zoom, Nidhi denied Akshaye’s involvement in the film and said:

“No, it is not true. We did not reach out to him.”

What sparked the rumours of Akshaye Khanna’s role in Border 2?

Ever since the film's teaser was released, there has been a lot of noise about its cast. Many reports stated that Akshaye would reprise his role as '2nd Lt. Dharamvir Singh Bhakhri' and would make a cameo appearance in the much-awaited film. However, when the song Ghar Kab Aaoge was released, in one segment, viewers noticed an actor who resembled Akshaye.

Soon, rumours about the actor’s presence sparked a discussion on social media. Additionally, after the success of Dhurandhar, it was natural for people to expect Akshaye’s special appearance in Border 2. In the same conversation, Nidhi Dutta also revealed that Border 2 has no direct link to the 1997 classic, which was based on the Battle of Longewala.

Border 2 boasts a stellar starcast

Presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series in association with J.P. Dutta’s J.P. Films, Border 2 is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta and Nidhi Dutta. The film is directed by Anurag Singh. Talking about the cast of Border 2, the war drama will feature a strong ensemble, including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Sonam Bajwa, Mona Singh, Anya Singh, Medha Rana, and others.

According to multiple reports, the cast of Border 2 has received whopping salaries. While the makers of the film have not revealed the cast's exact salaries, a report by Asianet News has shared an alleged amount. According to the same, Sunny Deol was the highest-paid actor of the film. Reportedly, he took home Rs. 50 crore for his role. On the other hand, Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh were also paid hefty sums.
