Currently, the duo is dominating the headlines as they evacuated their home in France amid the ongoing wildfires across Europe. For the unversed, the couple, along with 9-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, were living in the town of Brignoles, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region of southeastern France.
However, currently the duo’s residence is in one of the many regions where wildfires are spreading across France, Spain, Italy and Greece. Step inside to have a look at their lives as they relocated from their home in France.
George Clooney and Amal Clooney share three more properties alongside their home in France
According to a report by People, George Clooney and Amal Clooney share an estate in England, a villa on Lake Como in Italy and another property near his family in Kentucky. Although George and Amal have kept their personal life private, in a 2025 interview with Esquire, he opened up about the decision to have their primary residence at a farm in France. He also admitted to his insecurities about raising his kids in Los Angeles. In his words:
"A good portion of my life growing up was on a farm, and as a kid, I hated the whole idea of it. But now, for them, it’s like—they’re not on their iPads, you know? They have dinner with grown-ups and have to take their dishes in. They have a much better life. I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life in France. They kind of don’t give a s--- about fame. I don’t want them to be walking around worried about paparazzi. I don’t want them being compared to somebody else’s famous kids."
However, months ago in February 2025, George shared that he never imagined that their primary residence would be a country house. He mentioned that he always wanted to get away from a farm. In a 2025 interview with The New York Times, George said:
"Growing up in Kentucky, all I wanted to do was get away from a farm, get away from that life. Now I find myself back in that life. I drive a tractor and all those things. It’s the best chance at a normal life."
In the early 2000s, George bought a beautiful 18th-century lakeside house in Italy. He found the house by chance when his motorcycle broke down during a trip. Initially, George thought he would keep the house for only a year and then sell it for a profit. However, he changed his decision after he saw a group of construction workers walking home. They had worked hard all day but still were laughing and enjoyed the moment. This was when he realized to slow down and enjoy life.
Ever since, George and Amal evacuated their home in France amid the wildfires, people have grown curious about where the couple is at the moment. Well, reports state that the family has safely relocated from their property, but their exact current location has not been publicly disclosed for privacy and security reasons. Announcing their evacuation, George wrote a letter to the mayor of Brignoles, Didier Brémond, as confirmed by his representative. His letter can be read as:
"Dear Didier, At this point we have no idea whether our beautiful home makes it through this terrible moment. As we evacuate Brignoles, we want to emphasise 2 things: first, we hope you and the people of our city are safe and second, that Amal and I are committed to making sure that whatever happens to our village, we are part of this community and we’ll be part of making it whole. We love Brignoles and our friends who live there."
According to local officials, the fire near Brignoles broke out on the afternoon of July 29, 2026 and burned some 321 acres. Some 600 residents were evacuated, and four firefighters were injured. A CNN report stated that around 224,000 people were evacuated in the Gironde region of France and another 3,000 in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region.
