Hulk Hogan Considered Suicide After His Bitter Divorce From Linda Hogan, 'A Gun In My Mouth...'

Hulk Hogan was one of the most recognised personalities in the world of professional wrestling. The Florida man was known for his horseshoe moustache and bandanas. In the 1980s, Hulk Hogan was among the most recognised personalities in the sports and entertainment industry. The legend passed away on July 24, 2025, at the age of 71, leaving a void in the hearts of his fans.

Just like his professional life, Hulk’s personal life also hogged a lot of limelight. He married thrice, and two of them ended in divorce. But it was after his bitter divorce from his first wife, Linda, that his life turned upside down. In his new docuseries, Hulk Hogan: Real American, the late WWE star revealed that he considered suicide after his divorce from Linda.

In the documentary, Hulk Hogan revealed that his marriage with Linda began to fall apart after he and his family starred in the VH1 reality show, Hogan Knows Best. The show featured his family life outside the ring. Hogan thought of getting some time with Linda, but the show drifted them apart, leading to a bitter divorce.

The pro wrestling champion shared that his highly publicised divorce made him suicidal, and one night, he considered taking his life. Speaking of the same, he said:

“I went home and I started drinking and you know started eating pills, and I just went down this rabbit hole for a couple days and the next thing I know, I'm sitting in front of my bathroom with a gun in my mouth and not knowing what I was doing.”

Hulk Hogan went through a huge financial toll after his divorce

In his docuseries, Hulk Hogan also talked about the financial toll he underwent after his ugly divorce. It was the most devastating and dark phase of his life as he gave 70 per cent of his wealth to Linda and was left with no money. In his words:

“I hit rock bottom. I gave Linda 70% of everything because I just didn't want to ever talk to her again, be with her, I never wanted to see her again. So, I gave her everything to get rid of her and after the divorce I had no money. I was broke, and so TNA [Total Nonstop Action Wrestling] saved me.”

What led to Hulk Hogan and Linda Hogan’s divorce?

Hulk tied the knot with Linda in 1983, and in 2007, Linda filed for divorce. There were rumours that the legendary wrestler had allegedly cheated on his wife with his daughter’s best friend, Christiane Plante. Earlier, in a 2008 interview with the National Enquirer, Christiane shared that her and Hulk’s relationship developed when the latter and his then-wife, Linda, privately knew their marriage was ending.

In March 2025, in the shocking video shared by Linda, she also claimed that Hulk Hogan had physically and mentally abused her. In the video, Linda revealed that Hulk used to abuse her physically, and these things also hampered the mental peace of their children, Brooke and Nick. Linda also shared that although many years had passed, she couldn’t move on.
