The year 2023 has witnessed the split of some of the most-loved and renowned Hollywood celebrities. And the news of divorce seems to be unending. On September 15, 2023, Hugh Jackman and his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, released an official statement announcing their divorce.
Hugh Michael Jackman AC, aka Hugh Jackman, is popular for playing the role of ‘Wolverine’ in the X-Men movie series. At the same time, Deborra-Lee Furness is an Australian actress and producer. Jackman and Furness got married in 1996. They have a son, Oscar, born in 2000, and a daughter, Ava, born in 2005.

Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee have announced that they are going to part ways after 27 years of blissful marriage. As per a report by the media outlet, People, the estranged couple shared in their official statement that their journey is shifting, and they have mutually decided to pursue their individual growth by going separate ways. They said:
"We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth. Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives. This is the sole statement either of us will make."
The Aussie stars, Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee first met on the sets of their Australian TV series, Corelli, in 1995. When they first met, Deb was already a renowned actress, and Hugh was just fresh out of drama school. Reminiscing their first meeting, Hugh told People in an interview in 2017 that he started liking Deb the first time he met her. He said:
“Deb, she was a big star. I get picked up, and Deb is in the front seat of the car. I’ll never forget. She took off her seatbelt, and she turned around and put out her hand and took off her sunglasses, and said, ‘Hi, I’m Deborra-lee Furness, nice to meet you.’ I remember thinking, ‘I like this girl.’”

The 54-year-old Australian actor once revealed that he and Deborra-Lee had briefly broken up during their initial dating period. In an interview for the podcast, Aussies in Hollywood with Jenny Cooney, Hugh Jackman recalled how he always knew that Deborra was the one for him. He said:
“I knew very early, I knew before Deb knew. Even when she tried to break up with me, I knew. She kind of [broke up with me], a little bit. Early on, three weeks in. I managed to talk her out of it, thank God. I’m a very indecisive person, Deb really knows this about me. I can count on my hand the amount of times in my life anything has felt that clear to me, and when it happens it’s such a relief for me.”
The two eventually started dating and got married 11 months later, on April 11, 1996. In April 2023, Jackman commemorated his and Deborra’s 27th wedding anniversary with an Instagram post. He captioned his post as:
"I love you Deb. Today is our 27th wedding anniversary. 27 YEARS!! I love you so much. Together we have created a beautiful family. And life. Your laughter, your spirit, generosity, humor, cheekiness, courage and loyalty is an incredible gift to me. I love you with all my heart."
The couple, Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness made their last public appearance at the 2023 Met Gala. Their most recent sighting was at the Wimbledon men's finals in July 2023.
