New documents reveal Tim Curry's cause of death at 80
According to the latest records shared by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Tim Curry died due to coronary artery disease. It is a condition that affects the arteries tasked with supplying blood to the heart. Alongside, the documents also mentioned that stroke and kidney cancer contributed to his death. However, neither was stated as the underlying cause of his death.
In fact, the reports also indicated that Tim had undergone no surgical procedures to treat either condition. For those who do not know, coronary artery disease is one of the most common forms of heart disease. It occurs when plaque, made up of fats, cholesterol, and other substances, begins to build inside arteries.
If untreated, the condition can escalate to serious complications such as a heart attack and heart failure. This update comes more than 10 years after the actor had suffered a major stroke, which changed his life and career forever.
It also affected his ability to walk. Despite facing a serious medical emergency, he continued to maintain his well-known sense of humor throughout the long recovery process. When he sat down to share insights about it after several years, Tim recalled that he initially did not feel anything was wrong with him. Instead, he was getting a massage when the therapist noticed the symptoms and insisted on calling an ambulance. The actor later joked that he initially thought the therapist's concern was unnecessary.
Tim was bound to a wheelchair after the stroke. But it did not affect his speech, which enabled him to work in the entertainment industry as a voice actor. Still, the actor discussed in his interviews how he faced several limitations as his left leg prevented him from returning to singing and dancing. In his words:
"I still can't walk, which is why I'm in this silly chair, and that's very limiting. So I won't be singing or dancing very soon. I still have real problems with my left leg."
