Hilary Duff made it to the headlines with her comeback album, Luck… or Something, whose emotionally heavy tracks instantly grabbed the attention. Hilary and her sister, Haylie, had an estranged relationship that grabbed the attention instantly, and as per PEOPLE, this situation between the two sisters actually influenced Hilary's song, We Don't Talk. Recently, Hilary Duff sat for an interview on On Purpose With Jay Shetty, wherein she reflected on her strained relationship with her parents and their 'devastating' family dynamic. So, let's have a look at what Hilary Duff said about her bond with her family, which she feels is hard to navigate.
While being on Jay Shetty's podcast, Hilary Duff revealed that it's really vulnerable to opening up about such a family where parents are not together, and the individual has no relationship with either of them. She also shared that it's just devastating because no matter what age a child is, they will always want their parents to care for them, and a big portion of existence didn't feel like this to Hilary.

Hilary further mentioned that, irrespective of whether this is true or not, it just feels that way. In the same interview, she revealed that she doesn't have a relationship with her dad and they don't interact often. Hilary went on to add that it's just the fact that when a family breaks dramatically, some people hold on to the wish to reconcile, while others don't. Hilary could be quoted as saying:
"I think being very vulnerable and open about what it's like to be in a family that your parents aren't together and you don't have relationships with both of your parents. It's devastating. It doesn't matter what age you are, you want your parents to feel like they care about you. And a big portion of my existence hasn't felt like that. My dad and I don't really have much of a relationship and we don't speak very often/ It's really hard, I think, if a family breaks apart very dramatically. It's hard to find your way back sometimes—some people want to and some people don't."

Hilary Duff further mentioned in the interview that her broken bond with her sister was much more common than she initially thought. Hilary said that she has come across more and more people who have experienced something similar. She further mentioned that she chose to share these things after all these years just because she was ready to talk about it, even though it was painful to share. Hilarly Duff could be quoted as saying:
"In my adulthood, I've come across more and more people that are having this experience. And as painful as it feels to share, when I decided to make this record, I could only talk about the things that I've gone through. There would be no purpose to make a record after 10 years [other] than to face what it's been like. So that’s my truth."

In the same interview, Hilary Duff talked about the pressure she felt while growing up. She mentioned that while she was pretty confident about growing up, she experienced some insecurities during her teenage years and growing into early childhood. She stated that people started talking about her body, and people would ask her about her weight, which made her suffer for a while.

Hilary said that she suffered for a while there, but she was thankful; this stage was short-lived. Hilary added that being a parent actually changed her priorities as she learned how to focus on the main things, like saying 'yes' to more and more projects and having time of her own, given the fact that the pressure was kind of off her shoulders. For the unversed, Hilary shares her son, Luca, with her ex, Mike Comrie. She has three other children, Banks, May, and Townes, with husband Matthew Koma.
