Bollywood's iconic couple, Hema Malini and Dharmendra got hitched to one another on May 2, 1980. However, their marriage wasn't a conventional one. It was because Dharmendra was still married to his first wife, Prakash Kaur at that time. Thus, they had to convert to another religion to embrace their relationship. Afterwards, Hema and Dharmendra were blessed with two daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol. Now, we stumbled upon an old interview of the stunning couple, wherein Hema revealed how she never played the typical wife roles to impress her husband in their marriage.
Earlier, when Hema Malini graced the popular comedy reality show, The Kapil Sharma Show, she revealed many unknown anecdotes from her relationship with her husband, Dharmendra. She mentioned that despite having a long-lasting bond, the evergreen actress never had to play the typical role of a wife for the man of her dreams. With this, the fashion queen revealed that she never cooked to impress Dharmendra. Further, explaining how both of them were extremely busy with their professional front, Hema shared:
"I never had to cook to make Dharam Ji happy. Both of us were busy with work."

In the same conversation, Hema also talked about the time when she finally started learning to cook. Elaborating more on this, the actress shared that it was only after their daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol began attending school. Hema mentioned that Esha would return home feeling unhappy due to her classmates, who used to keep flaunting the homemade foods prepared by their mothers. However, Esha, at that time, had nothing to show. Thus, it became a turning point in Hema's life to learn cooking and make her daughters proud. At that time, Hema added how she was angry with her mother for not teaching her how to cook. She mentioned,
"I felt bad and I called my mother and told her that because you didn’t teach me cooking, I am facing this."
Finally, Hema took her mother’s guidance and began to cook. She also shared that during their family holidays abroad, she would prepare delicious meals for her family. The show's host, Kapil then inquired if Hema enjoys Punjabi cuisine as her husband hails from that background. The actress humorously then shared that whenever Dharmendra used to visit them, he prefers to eat traditional South Indian dishes like idli, sambhar, and dosa. Through this, we can understand the mutual respect between Dharmendra and Hema, which has built the foundation of their strong relationship over the years.

Following this, a picture went viral on the discussion portal, Reddit, wherein an internet user claimed that the glimpse was from Dharmendra and Hema Malini’s anniversary celebrations. Moreover, as per the Reddit user, Hema and Dharmendra's anniversary celebration occurred at their residence. In the photo, the couple was seen posing with huge garlands and looked the happiest. While Dharmendra wore an orange shirt paired with black trousers, Hema Malini looked stunning as always in a cream and orange-hued saree.
