Neutrogena responds after increasing criticism following Hayden Panettiere's death
Neutrogena recently shared a statement on social media. They expressed their condolences on Hayden Panettiere's death. At the same time, the brand recalled its long history of collaboration. In the statement, they called Hayden a valued member of their community for more than a decade. In fact, the brand acknowledged that she felt unsupported during a difficult chapter in her life.

The skincare brand clarified that they do not stand for making someone feel "unsupported." Instead, they announced some plans to make a major financial investment in a community health partner. Especially the ones that support women dealing with postpartum depression or other mental health issues. As per the statement, they will share more details in the near future.
The skincare brand also explained that they have waited to state now out of respect for Hayden' s loved ones. Notably, the comments section of the post was disabled, too. In their words:
"For more than a decade, Hayden was a valued member of our Neutrogena community. We are proud to have partnered with her and understand that we made her feel unsupported during a very difficult time. This is not what Neutrogena stands for or who we want to be."
For those unaware, the whole issue goes back to Hayden Panettiere's interview, in which she opened up about another association with the brand. She was the face of the brand until 2015. But when she was asked what went wrong between them, the actress revealed that she was ousted after she discussed postpartum depression in her interviews.
At the time, Hayden had sat down for interviews and shared how she was deeply affected by mental health struggles after the birth of her death. After many years, she claimed that some executives at the skincare brand tried to remove her as its spokesperson. In her words, the company representatives had allegedly explored removing her through a clause in the contract.
Although Hayden Panettiere remained with the brand for some time, she admitted that the contract was not renewed. She opened up about the incident because she was hurt over it after working with them for so many years. Also, their decision to abandon her due to a mental health issue faced by countless new moms affected her.
Meanwhile, public attention has returned to the case after parts of Hayden's memoir and interviews about the incidents resurfaced online. Several social media users called out the company for allegedly falling short in supporting its most popular ambassadors during a difficult period in their lives.

Some fans also questioned if enough progress was made to reduce the stigma around postpartum depression. But the criticism reached the brand as social media users flooded the comments section of Neutrogena's social media handle. They demanded accountability and called for boycotts.
