However, his appearance on the show has brought back conversation around his lady love and partner of nearly 20 years, Shelby Rabara.
Harry Shum Jr. has been paired with two-time Mirrorball champion Jenna Johnson. However, fans are far more interested in the person he has been paired with since 2007. Harry's wife of over a decade, Shelby Rabara, is an actress, dancer, and voice performer. She has appeared in projects including Glee, 17 Again, and 2 Broke Girls, but many fans will recognize her as the voice of 'Peridot' in the Steven Universe franchise. More recently, she voiced 'Snappy' in Toy Story 5.
Shelby Rabara also has a strong academic background. She attended UCLA and performed as a member of the Laker Girls, the Los Angeles Lakers' dance team, according to PEOPLE. Apparently, dance has been an important part of Harry and Shelby's lives from the very beginning and, in fact, helped the couple come together as well. The couple crossed paths at the auditions while they were both establishing themselves as professional dancers. They even appeared in the same commercial before they began dating. During a joint interview with Shondaland, Harry reflected on the first time he saw Shelby's headshot displayed beside his.
He revealed that they had worked with a photographer who had made the display. He remembered thinking she was "really pretty" before recognizing her when they later met. Their first official date was a trip to see the 2006 movie Dreamgirls. During a 2022 appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Harry Shum Jr. revealed that they both cried during the movie, which led things to bloom between them.
The pair began dating in 2007 and eventually married in Costa Rica in November 2015. They celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary in November 2025. Over the years, the couple has built a loving home for themselves and even extended their family.
