Born to late Himanshu Pandya and Nalini Pandya, Krunal Pandya is the elder brother of Hardik Pandya and to facilitate the Pandya brothers with better cricket training facilities, Mr Pandya had left his business in Surat and moved to Vadodara when junior Pandya was five. Post the enrolment in Kiran More’s Cricket Academy, the struggle of Pandya brothers to make both ends meet for their family had begun. Krunal and Hardik used to go to the nearby villages to play in local cricket tournaments for a fee of Rs. 400-500 to support their family and pursuing their passion. Now, the Pandya brothers have come a long way and are two of the best cricketers in the history of cricket.
To mark Krunal Pandya’s birthday on March 24, 2021, Hardik Pandya posted a video, comprising of some cherishable moments with his brother. Hardik added the song, Tere Jaisa Yaar Kahan from the film, Yaarana (1981) to the video, which perfectly defined their relationship. Hardik captioned the post as “We’re on this journey together bhai right from the start. The highs, the lows, I’m lucky to have you by my side. Happy birthday big bro @krunalpandya_official.” Krunal’s wife, Pankhuri Sharma Pandya posted an array of hearts on the video.
Pankhuri Sharma Pandya posted a black-and-white picture with Krunal Pandya, and it spoke volumes of her love for her husband. Pankhuri captioned the picture as “Happy birthday to my everything. You were born to shine, to show people the spirit of life. Wherever you go, you light up everyone. I have watched you grow through the years and you have out done yourself and got the best version of yourself! Thank you for all that you do for me, the past year has been so tough but you have stood by me like a rock,motivated me everyday and made me stand every time I fell down and I’m forever grateful. In the first match of the One-Day-International series against England which was held in Pune, Krunal Pandya scored his first ODI half-century. Hardik Pandya posted a proud note for his brother and captioned a series of pictures from the match as “Papa would be proud. He’s smiling down on you bhai and sent an early birthday gift for you. You deserve the world and more. I couldn’t be happier for you bhai. This one is for you Papa.” Krunal also dedicated his milestone to their late father and wrote in a post, “Papa, with every ball you were always on my mind and in my heart. Tears rolled down my face as I felt your presence with me. Thank you for being my strength, for being the biggest support I’ve had. I hope I’ve made you proud. This is for you Papa, everything we do is for you Papa.”
For the uninitiated, Krunal Pandya and Hardik Pandya had lost their father, Himanshu Pandya in January 2021 and the latter had posted a heartfelt note on the demise of his daddy. Hardik had written in a social media post, “To My Daddy and my Hero, To lose you is one of the most difficult things to accept in life but you have left us so many great memories that we can only imagine you smiling! Your sons are standing where they are right now is only because of you, your hard work, your self belief and you were always happy. This house without you would be less entertaining! We love you and will always do Your name will always stay on top. But I know one thing, you are looking after us from above the same way you did here! You were proud of us but daddy we all are proud of the way you lived your life! As I said yesterday to you One last ride Now rest in peace my king I will miss you everyday of my life. Love you daddddy!”
Last year, in July 2020, Krunal Pandya had posted a throwback video interview of the Pandya brothers and revealed that it was their first one ever. Krunal had captioned the video as “Our first interview. Throwback to the #PandyaBrothers' first ever interview Just young kids with big dreams. If we can make it, anyone can. Just work hard to achieve your dreams @hardikpandya93.” Hardik had reacted to it by saying, "This is gold my bro to see now."
