Hardik Pandya's GF Mahieka Cherishes His Cricket Journey, Shares A Love-Filled Note On Birthday

However, it was Hardik’s girlfriend, Maheika, whose love-filled birthday wish stole the spotlight. Taking to her Instagram handle, Maheika penned a lengthy note wherein she cherished Hardik’s cricket journey. For the unversed, Hardik made his first-class debut for Baroda against Madhya Pradesh in November 2013.

A while back, Hardik Pandya’s girlfriend, Mahieka Sharma, took to her Instagram handle to share a photograph of the cricketer. Along with the picture, Maheika penned a heartfelt note for Hardik. She shared that when Hardik was 19, he was considered a pure No. 4 batsman in Baroda. She described him as a mischievous younger brother who was full of energy and athleticism. For the uninitiated, Hardik has an elder brother, Krunal Pandya, who is also an international cricketer and all-rounder. She wrote:

"Hyper and athletic, cricket became the way to channel his energy. Barely educated, it would also become his grounds for expression."

Maheika highlighted that even though Hardik had spent years developing his batting skills, he struggled to secure a place in a team. She mentioned that politics and an inability to perform for the benefits of social inclusion separated him from his worthy selection. She added that Hardik was considered a rebel because he didn't fit in with the usual social norms. However, Hardik possessed an uncommon trait among batsmen. He is an avid runner and has a knack for working like a horse.

In the same note, Maheika praised her boyfriend for being empathetic. She shared that Hardik, after finishing his own batting practice, would stay behind and bowl to his teammates so they could practice their batting. While other batsmen would leave after completing their practice, he continued helping the bowlers. Maheika mentioned that, being a school dropout, Hardik had limited opportunities outside cricket. She wrote:

"A school dropout, it was a good use of his time since he couldn’t afford any hobbies, and there wasn’t much to do once home. There also wasn’t any infrastructure in the locality to identify if he had a learning disability, which he described as 'numbers and words flying around.'"

According to Maheika, Hardik never intended to become a bowler or an all-rounder. He simply wanted to succeed as a batsman because cricket was the one place where he felt accepted. However, one day, a senior coach noticed him bowling. The coach was surprised because he knew Hardik only as a batsman. This unexpected discovery changed everything. Just a few days later, Hardik played a match in which he bowled for the first time and took five wickets.

Two years later, in 2015, Hardik was selected by his dream IPL team as a fast-bowling all-rounder. Six months after that, he made his debut for the Indian cricket team. Cherishing his overall journey, Maheika wrote:

"Today, he is unequivocally the best at what he does. No amount of dreaming could’ve penned the script #33 was about to live. While my letter might only dip into 3% of the well of greatness that is his story, I smile knowing his medium isn’t words. It never was."
