Hansika Motwani Opens Up About Going Through Therapy Post Divorce From Sohael, 'Very Dark Phase...'

Hansika Motwani has been going through a tough phase in her personal life. Earlier, on March 11, 2026, Hansika was granted a divorce by mutual consent by a Mumbai family court. For the unversed, in March 2026, Hansika filed for divorce from her husband, Sohael Khaturiya. Since 2025, the couple living apart from each other has been making the rounds on the internet. In a recent conversation, Hansika opened up about taking therapy after her divorce. It is worth mentioning that the duo parted ways after 3 years of marriage.

Hansika Motwani reveals that she had to take therapy after her divorce from Sohael Khaturiya

In a candid conversation with Hauterrfly, Hansika Motwani shared that after her divorce from Sohael Khaturiya, she was in a very dark space. Hansika highlighted that she didn’t understand mental health. It was her friend who suggested her to take therapy during that bad phase. Hansika revealed that it’s been two years since she has been in therapy. It helped her, guided her and showed her how to be a better person. Hansika added post divorce, she had a lot of anxiety, and it was therapy that healed her. She was quoted as saying:

"I was in a very dark space and didn't understand mental health. A friend picked me up during my dark phase and said let's try therapy. After that, it's been two years, and it has helped me, guided me, showed me how to be a better person. Taught me how to handle situations that I didn't know how to."

Hansika Motwani gets candid about her family's support during the dark phase

During the same conversation, Hansika got candid about her family’s support when she was parting ways with Sohael. Hansika mentioned that her brother, with whom she shares a very close bond, supported her throughout. Hansika shared that both her mother and brother saw her going through a very dark space. Hansika highlighted that she is a very happy and jolly person, and thus, for her to go into a bad and dark space was quite alarming. Hansika added that till today nobody knows what exactly had happened between her and Sohael. She was quoted as saying:

"My brother and I are very close. He supported me throughout. Both my mother and my brother were like, 'If you are not comfortable, don't go through it.' And they have seen me in a very dark space—a very dark space. I am a very happy, jolly person. For me to go into a dark space, it was kind of alarming. So they were like, 'Whatever you decide.' And honestly, till today, no one knows what happened between the two of us, and it's the best."

Hansika and Sohael reportedly knew each other for many years before their close friendship turned into a romantic relationship. In November 2022, Sohael proposed to Hansika near the Eiffel Tower, Paris. Followed by the dreamy proposal, the duo got married on December 4, 2022, in a lavish destination wedding at Mundota Fort and Palace in Jaipur. It was Sohael’s second marriage. Before finding love in Hansika, he was married to Hansika’s alleged BFF, Rinky Bajaj. Thus, Hansika was called a homewrecker after her marriage to Sohael. Defending Hansika, Sohael said on the series, Love Shaadi Drama:

"The news that I was previously married came out, and it came out in the wrong light. It came out as if the breakup was because of Hansika, which is absolutely untrue and baseless. I was first married in 2014 and that marriage lasted for a very short time. But just because we have been friends and someone saw pictures of her attending my wedding is why this speculation started."
