Halle Berry Expresses Concern For 18-Year-Old Daughter Nahla's College Move, 'She's The First..'

Recently, at the Create & Cultivate Festival Panel in Los Angeles, Halle revealed that her 18-year-old daughter's move to college was a little scary, but she hopes that she makes the best of her time.
Halle Berry shared how her daughter's move to college was a little scary
Halle revealed in an interaction with People that her 18-year-old daughter is the first one to go to college, and she feels super proud of her. However, the 60-year-old actress is also scared as she will be in the world all by herself in another state. Nala added that she hopes her daughter makes the right decisions and she hopes that they have raised her right. She said:
"She’s the first to go, and she’s my baby girl. I felt proud of her, but there’s a little fear. She’s in the world now all by herself. She went to another state, and I just hope that she makes the right decisions and that her dad and I raised her up right and that she’ll make the most of her experience."
However, Halle has not yet gotten used to being without her daughter, whom she shares with her former partner, Gabriel Aubry. She revealed that the new dynamic of her home has taken some time to get used to, especially for her son, Maceo-Robert Martinez, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez.
The 12-year-old is happy that he is now able to get to sleep in his sister's bed. For him, the world revolves around him as he is having the feeling of an only child in the absence of his sister. Halle stated that now her son does not have to compromise, and he gets to decide what he wants to have. She shared:
"There are perks that come with that. They no longer have to compromise. We don’t have to agree on dinner anymore. He gets to decide these kinds of things for himself."
Halle further added that her son definitely misses his sister and feels a bit off without her in the home. But the entire family is proud and supportive of Nahla's move to college. Nahla, the 18-year-old daughter of Halle, completed high school in June 2026. Halle reunited with her former partner, Gabriel Aubry, to mark Nahla's happiest milestone after their separation 16 years ago.
In October 2025, Halle shared that Nahla was accepted into college at the age of 17. She shared a photo on Instagram with a cake. On the cake, it was written, "You did it, Nahla," in icing. Nahla was also part of a college summer program in June 2025. At that time, Halle expressed that she was scared and excited for her daughter's new beginnings.
At that time, Halle stated that she was not one of those moms who feel that her daughter is leaving and thought she would worry; she is mostly excited to start her life and figure out how her life pans out. She said:
"I’m not one of those moms who feels like, ‘Oh, she’s leaving.’ Yes, will I worry? Of course. But am I excited for her to start her life and figure out who she’s gonna be? Absolutely. I’m dying to see who she’s gonna be and what she’s gonna do and what she’ll discover."
