Olivier Martinez wants his son to forgive Halle Berry and "not hate her"
Olivier Martinez spoke to the media after a recent court hearing. He shared that he hoped Halle and their son would eventually repair their relationship. The actor also added that he wants Maceo to forgive his mother and hoped they would reconcile at some point in future. Olivier made the comments after a judge dissolved a temporary restraining order that he got against Halle Berry. In his words:
"I don't want my son to hate his mom. I want him to love her."
The court has allowed Olivier to have physical custody of their son for now. Meanwhile, the court has allowed both parents to continue to share legal custody of the 13-year-old. Their custody arrangement is expected to be discussed at another hearing next month. However, the ruling was a setback for Olivier because the judge also dismissed his request for a domestic violence restraining order against Halle.
The actress's attorney, Marina Beck, welcomed the court's decision. She said that the family would continue to focus on the 13-year-old's well-being. At the same time, a source close to the situation described it as a major win for Halle Berry. The legal conflict began early in October 2026 when Olivier accused his former wife of physically abusing their son. He also alleged that she jumped on Maceo and choked him.
However, Halle Berry has strongly denied the claims, and her attorney described the case as "misleading" and "without merit". Halle also alleged that Olivier was influencing their son's behaviour and making him increasingly angry and combative towards her. She also asked the court to restore their previous shared custody arrangement and asked for more authority over decisions affecting their son.
The former couple appeared at several courtroom hearings and submitted multiple testimonies. In fact, Maceo reportedly testified for nearly four hours on October 19, 2026. Olivier later gave more testimony on October 22, where he maintained his allegations against Halle.
He was also reportedly confronted with a declaration he signed in 2024 under penalty of perjury, in which he stated that there was no history of domestic violence between him and Halle. Later, the actress's daughter, Nahla Aubry, and her fiancé, Van Hunt, also took the stand.
Why did Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez part ways?
Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez began to date after meeting during the filming of Dark Tide in 2010. After dating for some time, they tied the knot in July 2013 before welcoming Maceo in the same year. However, they announced their split in 2015 before finalising their divorce in August 2023. According to reports, they took the decision to separate due to the differences in their personalities, lifestyle and plans for the future.
Initially, the couple had planned to move to Europe, but Halle was unable to relocate due to her custody arrangement for her daughter, Nahla, with her ex, Gabriel Aubry. They also had conflicts over their careers, jealousy and Olivier's alleged anger.
