Gypsy Rose Reveals Partner Ken Urker Died From Overdose, He Was 'Not In A Good State Of Mind Lately'

Urker's sister, Autumn, first confirmed his passing during a TikTok livestream, after which TMZ broke the news. While the initial reports said that he died of unnatural causes, Blanchard has now provided additional details in her first statement since Ken's passing.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Blanchard said she believes Urker died from an overdose but does not know what substance he took or whether he intentionally overdosed. The ex-convict, 35, told the outlet, "I don't know if it was intentional or not. He was not in a good state of mind lately."
Urker was found dead in his bed at his home in Raceland, Louisiana, according to Gypsy's account. The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to a residence at about 6:15 p.m. Thursday and found Urker dead when they arrived. Authorities have said the investigation into his death remains ongoing.
Blanchard said police have not told her what Urker may have taken. She is having a hard time accepting the truth of his passing. She says, "I'm in disbelief. I can't think. I've screamed until my throat burns."
Gypsy also addressed the intense online attention Urker faced throughout their relationship. She said he experienced what she described as relentless cyberbullying on platforms including TikTok and Reddit. She told PEOPLE:
"Ken endured an unimaginable level of public scrutiny and relentless cyberbullying across social media platforms. The cruelty directed toward him was something no human being should have to endure."
Blanchard believes the pressure affected Ken deeply and "the tremendous weight of that scrutiny and harassment had a profound impact on him, and I hope his passing serves as a reminder that there is a real person behind every screen, every headline, and every comment."
Ken Urker was a loving father to his and Gypsy Rose's daughter, Aurora
Further in the conversation, Blanchard spoke up about one of the most painful parts of Ken's loss. Her heart shatters knowing that their toddler daughter, Aurora Raina Urker, would never know the father who loved her unconditionally.
Blanchard and Urker welcomed Aurora in December 2024, months after they reconnected following years apart. A heartbroken Gypsy told POEPLE:
"Above all, Ken loved our daughter, Aurora. She is a beautiful reflection of his enduring spirit, and through her, a part of him will always remain with us."
Gypsy wants Aurora to grow up knowing her father for who he was rather than through the commentary surrounding his relationship with Blanchard. She remembered Urker as an "amazing father" and said he would forever be her "soulmate." In her own words:
"Ken was an amazing father and a man who was deeply loved. He will forever be my soulmate and my red string, a connection that time, distance, and even death can never erase."
Gypsy and Ken first connected while the former was serving a prison sentence for her role in the killing of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. Urker initially contacted her after watching the HBO documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest and sent her a letter of support. Their correspondence eventually turned romantic. Urker visited Blanchard in prison, where they shared their first kiss, and he later proposed in October 2018.
The couple later called off their engagement and went their separate ways. During their time apart, Blanchard married Ryan Anderson in 2022. She separated from Anderson after her release from prison in December 2023, and their divorce was finalized in 2024. Blanchard and Urker reconnected in April 2024. Their relationship quickly became serious again, and they eventually welcomed Aurora.
Before his death, Blanchard had spoken about wanting to marry Urker again. She described their relationship as having survived challenges that she believed would have broken many other couples. She concluded her statement by asking for privacy during this time of unimaginable grief.
Urker's death remains under investigation, and authorities have not publicly announced an official cause of death or determined whether the alleged overdose was accidental or intentional.
