The 42-year-old Bella was overwhelmed with her husband, Greg's, major milestone as he completed a 1000 km cycling journey from Weymouth to Edinburgh as part of Red Nose Day, and raising a charity of 3.2. million pounds. 

Bella broke down in tears as she reunited with Greg after eight days, as he cycled up to eight hours a day. It is worth mentioning that it was an emotional milestone as Greg overcame his personal challenges and emotional ones, too. For the unversed, his father had a stroke in early March 2026. Bella Mackie is a journalist and a famous author. She is the daughter of former editor-in-chief of The Guardian, Alan Rusbridger. Despite coming from the same love for writing, Bella intentionally dropped her father's surname, 'Rusbridger' and opted for 'Mackie', so that the industry doesn't start making connections and calling it luck rather than hard work. 

Talking about her work, she has written three famous books, Jog On: How Running Saved My Life, Jog On Journal: A Practical Guide To Getting Up And Running and Running. Her books are all about a person's relationship with their mental health and how to keep the anxiety at bay. 

Bella Mackie's first marriage ended in a divorce within 9 months

Before finding love in Greg James, Bella was married at the age of 28. However, her first husband's name is not publicly revealed due to the short course of their marriage. In a personal revelation, Bella once wrote that her first husband left her after nine months of their marriage. At that point, she thought about her messy life and how she would have to explain to her family that her marriage ended in less than a year. It was at this juncture of her life that she decided to take up jogging to heal herself from the pain of a broken marriage. She said:

"My husband left after nine months and at that point I thought, not only am I anxious and a mess, but now I have to explain that my marriage has broken down in less than a year."

Bella Mackie and Greg James got married in 2018. However, it was in 2019, when Bella revealed that they met after she reached out to him on Twitter, now X. Greg and Bella kept messaging for six months before they met in person. Talking about Greg, it was love at first sight. 

For the unversed, it was Bella who proposed to Greg. He wrote on Instagram, revealing that Bella asked him to marry her in February 2018, and he immediately said yes, as she is the smartest and funniest person. He wrote:

"One of the main reasons for this happiness is because I met this person. This is Bella and in February she asked me to marry her. I said yes immediately because she is the smartest, funniest and most beautiful person I’ve ever met. The only problem is she loves staying up into the early hours drinking as much as I do and this is not conducive with 5am alarms. That said, it’s been quite a year."

Greg and Bella tied the knot in September 2018. However, the couple's relationship and marriage are extremely private. Sharing photos from their wedding, Greg announced on Instagram that he got married, and it was an incredible day of his life. He called her the best thing in his life.
