Graham Platner's Shirtless Towel-Only Selfie On Active Kik Account Surfaces Amid Sexting Allegations

Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner is facing back-to-back controversy after reports revealed an allegedly active Kik account linked to him. With his campaign already facing turbulence over allegations of explicit texting with multiple women, multiple outlets have now exposed a towel-only mirror selfie allegedly obtained from an active Kik profile.

According to recent reports, Platner allegedly maintained a Kik profile under the username "phustle0331," a handle that resembles the style of usernames he has reportedly used on other online platforms. The account drew attention after a shirtless mirror selfie surfaced, showing a man wearing only a towel with several visible tattoos on his bare chest. According to online observers, the tattoos resemble the ones seen on Platner's body.

The image, first reported by the New York Post, appears to show a man standing in a bathroom while taking a mirror selfie. Although the person's face is cropped out, visible tattoos include an Asian-script design across the chest and extensive sleeve tattoos on both arms. Notably, the controversial "Totenkopf" skull-and-crossbones tattoo that has often raised eyebrows in Platner's campaign is obscured in the photo.

The timing of the photo has intensified the scrutiny. In case you missed it, the Senate candidate has already been under fire for reports about his alleged sexually explicit communications with multiple women during his marriage.

The messaging app Kik has long attracted scrutiny because of its anonymous messaging features. Over the years, the anonymity feature has made a large number of minors vulnerable to predators, leading to thousands of child exploitation cases and even murders linked to contacts made on the app. A report by the Hindustan Times revealed that around 60% of Kik's 15 million monthly active users were aged 13–24, making minors especially vulnerable to such crimes. Given its widespread misuse, the National Center on Sexual Exploitation branded Kik as a "predator's paradise."

Platner's alleged account on a platform as controversial as Kik has sparked backlash. Reports indicate that while Platner claimed to have removed the app from his phone, the account itself remains active. The emergence of the account comes just hours after separate reports detailed allegations that Platner exchanged sexually explicit messages with several women while married.

Graham Platner's 'sexting with multiple women' allegation

Before the news of his mirror selfie became public, Plater's campaign was already tainted by explosive allegations from his wife, Amy Gertner, whom he married in 2023. The controversy escalated in 2025 when Gertner reportedly informed campaign staff about a series of messages she said contained sexually explicit content that she discovered on her husband's phone. 

The issue reportedly surfaced during internal opposition research conducted by campaign staff ahead of major campaign events. Former campaign political director Genevieve McDonald later stated that the alleged messages could prove to be a liability for the Senate hopeful. Regarding the number of women involved, the reports have differed. While some accounts claim the messages involved as many as 12 women, some campaign reps have reportedly disputed that figure.

Despite the heated allegations, however, Gertner has publicly defended her husband and their marriage. In a recent statement shared via Platner's Instagram, Gertner opened up about their marital problems, saying that they sought counselling and are now going "stronger than ever."

"We did the hard work that marriage requires. We took counselling... Our marriage today is stronger than ever before. I know who Graham is. I know the man I married and the husband he has been to me on the best and the worst days of my life."

For now, Graham Platner himself has not spoken directly about the new allegations, but his wife's stance shows that the couple is standing together through the storm.
