Sunita Ahuja revealed that Govinda's lifestyle made it difficult for them to live together
Govinda's wife, Sunita Ahuja filed for divorce from him in the Bandra Family Court in December 2024, citing the reasons of adultery, cruelty, and desertion under the Hindu Marriage Act. As of August 2026, the case may have been withdrawn, but issues between the duo reportedly persist. After the divorce filing, Sunita sat for several interviews, citing the cracks in her marriage, which ultimately led her to decide to split.
During a conversation with Hindi Rush, Sunita revealed that she and her husband mostly lived separately. Detailing their living arrangements, she stated that they have two houses, their flat and a bungalow. Sunita mentioned that, given the nature of Govinda's work, he often got home late, and even after that, he still wanted to be around a lot of people and have candid chats with them.
Sunita's remark suggested that Govinda is extremely outgoing, and even after a tiring day at work, he had the energy to socialise. On the other hand, the actor's wife and kids do not want to indulge in that kind of lifestyle, which is why they chose the separate living setup. As per Sunita, Govinda usually had 10 people over at their bungalow and unwound with them, while she, their son and their daughter lived peacefully in their apartment. Her exact words were:
"We have two houses, we have a bungalow opposite our apartment. I have my temple and my kids in the flat. We live in the flat whereas he gets late after his meetings. He loves talking, so he'll gather 10 people and sit chatting with them. Whereas me, my son and my daughter live together."
Notably, Sunita Ahuja's revelations came during her and Govinda's separation, and their current living situation following the cancellation of their divorce is not publicly known. Not just Sunita, filmmaker Pahlaj Nihalani, who launched Govinda's career and was close to the couple, also once confirmed their separate living arrangement. He stated that although Govinda and Sunita mostly lived separately, their love for each other was "eternal."
Pahlaj claimed that Sunita is a no-nonsense woman who speaks her mind without sugarcoating, and thus things have escalated between the duo publicly. The filmmaker further stated that even if Govinda has 10 affairs, his and Sunita's marriage would remain unbreakable, due to their strong bond. His exact words were:
"They've always lived separately. He always used to have his meetings in the other bungalow, because he sleeps late. She's always with him otherwise. He doesn't have a single film right now, but he does shows daily, and she handles his business matters...Listen, nobody can get in between Sunita and Govinda's eternal love. Sunita speaks her mind, and Govinda never strays. Their marriage will survive even if he has 10 affairs."

Govinda's latest affair rumours are with a starlet named Komal Rani Swarnakar, who will be launching her career in Bollywood opposite the veteran star in Roopa. Reacting to the infidelity buzz, Sunita slammed Govinda, saying that he was out of his mind. However, Govinda's manager, Shashi Sinha, recently said in an interview with PTI that the news of the couple's divorce is now ancient and that they have been mending their relationship lately. Amid that, Sunita withdrew the divorce case.
