Geena Davis revealed she wasn’t nervous about getting married to 15-year-younger Reza Jarrahy
Geena Davis began dating an Iranian-American neurosurgeon, Reza Jarrahy, in 1998 after she met him at a party. Jarrahy was 27 at that time, while Davis was 42, but the age difference never bothered her, as a relationship with him seemed a little far-fetched for the actress. Recalling her initial attraction to him, Davis confessed, “I remember thinking, This guy is cute — and ridiculously young.”
Prior to marrying Jarrahy, Davis was married to director Renny Harlin (1993–98), actor Jeff Goldblum (1987–90), and restaurateur Richard Emmolo (1982–83). While dating Jarrahy, Davis was on the journey of self-discovery and meeting him seemed perfect to her. Speaking about Jarrahy to Good Housekeeping, Davis said:
“I finally managed to change myself, and that changed what seemed attractive to me. Reza is so different from the kind of men I used to be with. At first, to be honest, I was just approaching it like something that would be fun. I wasn’t thinking too far ahead of the game.”

However, Davis wasn’t keen on rushing into marriage with Jarrahy and was keeping things light. But as time passed, she felt that he was the one for her. Soon, age was no longer an issue for them, as they were very comfortable with one another. But when he proposed, she beamed with happiness. Davis told Good Housekeeping she “wasn’t nervous at all” about entering a fourth marriage. Speaking about the same, she shared:
“I really did feel that I had turned a corner, that I had pulled off changes that were real and permanent.”
Geena Davis and Reza Jarrahy's divorce after 20 years
Davis and Jarrahy tied the knot in September 2001 during a small private ceremony in New York’s Hamptons. They went on to welcome three children: daughter Alizeh and fraternal twin sons Kaiis and Kian. Everything was going well in their relationship when reports surfaced that they had been living separately since 2017.

Soon after, Jarrahy filed for divorce from Davis in 2018, citing irreconcilable differences. In the court documents for their divorce, filed as Rob Doe v. Veronica Doe, Jarrahy sought spousal support and joint legal and physical custody of their children. On the other hand, Davis contended that they were never legally married because they lacked a formal marriage license and filed taxes as single.
In 2021, Davis and Jarrahy reached a confidential settlement agreement, officially concluding the divorce. They agreed to share custody of their kids and also to modify their twin sons' last names to Jarrahy.
