Gautami Kapoor has joined the ongoing debate on infidelity sparked by remarks made on Kajol and Twinkle Khanna's talk show, Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle. In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, she stated that disloyalty in any form, be it physical, emotional, spiritual, or transcendental, is a deal-breaker for her. Gautami chose to be respectful towards Kajol and Twinkle, who had a different opinion from her. The Bollywood stars stated that physical infidelity was okay for them, but not emotional cheating. Ram Kapoor's wife stated that she had no place to judge the actresses, as she didn't know their "thought processes"; however, she wouldn't agree with them. Gautami said:

"It doesn't matter to me whether it's physical, emotional, spiritual, transcendental-anything. Disloyalty is disloyalty. What she says is her point of view, and I respect that. This is how she thinks, and there's nothing wrong with that. But this is how I think, and there's nothing wrong with that either."

Gautami described herself as a "very possessive person" who invests "500%" into her relationships and views any form of disloyalty as a heavy burden. She observed that modern marriages face "too many temptations" and "no patience," noting that people today are often ready to give up at the first argument rather than fighting for the relationship. Responding to Kajol's suggestion that marriages should have a renewal clause, Gautami argued that "marriage already comes with an expiry date", and if the spouses don't work on it or don't put their heart and soul into it, it will expire. Reading marriage, Gautami told Siddharth Kannan:

"I am a very possessive person, honestly speaking. Whether it's my husband, my friends, my children, or even my team, I'm extremely possessive about the people around me. That's because I am fiercely loyal. I give my 500% in every relationship, emotionally, physically, in all ways. I'm completely invested. So for me, once there's disloyalty, it takes a huge toll. It becomes a burden I carry."

In the same interview, Gautami Kapoor shared her candid reaction to the historic 2011 intimate scene between her husband, Ram Kapoor, and his co-star, Sakshi Tanwar, in the show, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain. Gautami revealed that Ram called her at 2:30 a.m. after the scene had been shot to inform her about it. At the time, she was a new mother breastfeeding her child. Her first reaction was to say "What?" in disbelief, then "bang the phone" or hang up on him, because she did not want to think about it at that moment.

After the initial shock wore off, Gautami reflected on whether her reaction was fair. She considered Ram's relentless work schedule, noting he often worked 24 to 48 hours at a stretch and would not come home for days. She realised that as professional actors, there is no "romance" on a chaotic TV set, only hard work and high pressure. When Ram finally returned home the next morning, she chose to put the incident behind her and simply hugged him.
