Latest camera footage features Sunny Hostin and her son trying to explain the situation to the police

Newly released body camera footage shows Sunny Hostin speaking with police after her son, Gabriel Hostin, was cited for trespassing. In the video, Gabriel, 24, tells officers he was running and climbed a hill near the Metro-North tracks.
Officers stopped him while he was on the phone with his mother. Hostin is heard speaking with officers during that call and is later seen at the scene. She tells police she is a former federal prosecutor. She said her son recently graduated from Harvard, has no criminal record, and teaches 4th-grade geometry. She asked officers to treat it as a mistake.
Hostin also said the family moved to the area about a year ago, and Gabriel was not familiar with the property. Another video shows officers placing Gabriel in handcuffs. Police also released photos of the open gate Gabriel mentioned and of the “No Trespassing” sign, which he said he did not see.
Sunny Hostin writes to the prosecutor seeking dismissal of her son’s trespassing citation

Sunny Hostin recently sent a letter to the Westchester County prosecutor for dropping the trespassing case against her son, Gabriel Hostin, calling the incident an “honest mistake.” The letter was acquired by TMZ, and it featured Hostin arguing that her 24-year-old son was out running on June 16, 2026, in New Rochelle, when he noticed a gravel incline near the Metro-North tracks at 24 Station Plaza.
She wrote that the gates to the area were standing open, and that the only “No Trespassing” sign was on the left gate and not visible from the direction Gabriel entered. Sunny said in the letter:
“He reasonably believed the area was accessible and had no intention of entering private property unlawfully.”
Hostin also asked Greene to dismiss the violation “in the interests of justice.” She cited Gabriel’s background, saying that he is a 2025 Harvard graduate and also has a clean record alongside an athletic history. She noted he teaches 4th-grade geometry and that continuing the case would create unnecessary consequences for someone who cannot be considered a threat to anyone.
For the unversed, Gabriel was born from Sunny Hostin’s marriage to orthopedic surgeon Emmanuel Hostin. Apart from Gabriel, they also have a daughter named Paloma, who is a student at Cornell University and joined Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in April 2026.
Sunny Hostin began her career as a federal prosecutor in D.C., focusing on child sex crimes. She shifted to TV as a legal analyst for CNN and Fox News. In 2016, she joined ABC’s The View as co-host. Sunny has been the host of a podcast, Have You Seen This Man? She is also an author of two books, I Am These Truths and Summer on the Bluffs.
