However, as the tributes poured in, so did the questions about his personal life. So, as the industry mourns the loss of one of the most talented singers, let's take a look at what he said about getting married and having children.
Was Freddie Jackson married?
Freddie Jackson's death has sparked an intense interest in his personal life. The 70-year-old singer ruled his fans' hearts. However, when it came to his own life, he preferred to keep it away from the limelight. He never made his relationships public and rarely talked about his personal life, which has only fueled curiosity among his fans.
Over the years, the media asked him multiple times about his personal relationship. And every time, Freddie Jackson made it clear that it was none of the public's business. So, if the singer was dating someone or was married, it was a secret that went away with him. However, in June 1998, the Los Angeles Times published a profile of the singer titled, "Freddie Jackson Won't Sell His Soul For A Pop Hit."

During the conversation, Freddie Jackson explained why he never wanted the public to know about his romantic life and said he would rather keep his personal life to himself for two reasons. First, that it was not anyone's business, and second, so the fans can keep their fantasies about him, because he didn't want to spoil anything for them.
Freddie Jackson once opened up about why he never had children
While Freddie Jackson never opened up about his romantic life, he did reflect on why he decided to not have children. His 1994 single My Family deals explicitly with his family life and his decision not to have children. After the song's release, journalist Mark Berbiers asked him why he never had children in an interview published that year.
The singer got candid about his thought process and revealed that most people thought he made music only for women. However, his track, My Family, addressed the problems faced by men. He revealed that people often walk away from their responsibilities. He added that his song is for the men who want things to work. He was quoted as saying:
"The family is so separated and split today, and guys are walking away from their responsibilities, if they have kids. I've been around a couple of fellas who, for whatever reason, can't really be with their family. That song is appropriate for guys who want to pick up the phone and say, 'Look, I want to come by and see my baby. Let's talk this over.'"

In the same conversation, he further revealed that a child is the most important part of life when it comes to a family, and he knew what a broken home could do to a kid. He further mentioned that he himself was from a broken home. He revealed that he knew what happens when a mom has to be both a mother and a father. He was quoted as saying:
"The most important thing is the child. I am concerned with the family. I was born and raised in Harlem. I know what a broken home is about. I know what it's like to be brought up with mommy being mommy and daddy. It's a big responsibility to have a child, and you have to dedicate a lot of time."
He added that having a child required a lot of responsibility and dedication. Freddie Jackson shared that it was the reason why he didn't have children himself, because he felt that if he wanted to have a child, he needed to fix his own life first. He was quoted as saying:
"That's one of the reasons I probably don't have a child myself because you have to practice what you preach. Sometimes my life is very confusing, and before I embark on that, there are some things I have to fix with Freddie."
RIP, Freddie Jackson.
