Five Ways To Save On Your Wedding

Lavish weddings are an Indian trademark. Every one wants their wedding to be the talk of the town. Even after all the meticulous planning and brainstromming, wedding budgets often go haywire. But, if you want to make your wedding unique and special, without having to go overboard financially, here are some tips for you. With these tips you can cut down your wedding costs and save some money.

1) Rent your wedding clothes

There are many websites and vendors which give lavish bridal outfits for rent. You can easily rent one or two outfits for your wedding from such places to save on wedding costs. Well, if you are uncomfortable in renting clothes from such places then you can pick up your mother or your sister's wedding outfit and re-use it with some alterations. A few minor changes and your creativity will obviously make these mint condition clothes look as good as new.

2) Reduce your catering bill

Be frank with your caterer about your need to save money. Get frugal with the main course, but keep filling entrees. Also, instead of having five to six stations with different cuisines, you can stick to the pallete of food that suits your guests the best. This way you will also be able to reduce food wastage at your wedding. At most weddings, as guests concentrate on picking up pre-dinner snacks, the dinner is mostly wasted. So, don't get stuck with a bigger food bill for uneaten food.

3) Seasons

Wedding season extends from April to June and then again from November to February. Venues, caterers and all wedding vendors automatically hike their rates durnig this season to cover their off-season running costs. So, instead of scheduling your wedding during these peak seasons think about an off season wedding. Try to find an auspicious date during the off season months to get the best deals. Vendors and venues are always happy to offer discounted rates to get business during off seasons.

4) Invitations

Expensive wedding invites can eat up a sizeable portion of your wedding budget. Try to avoid large and heavily customised wedding invites. If possible, look for some volunteer organizations, which will make handmade wedding invitations for a far lower rate. It also adds to the exclusivity of the cards and you are indirectly contributing to the charity too. You can also email wedding invites to your friends and family members to save on the money.

5) Accommodation

It is never easy to house wedding guests, especially the outstation ones. But instead of booking large hotels and personal rooms, try to find a large farmhouse on the outskirts of the city where you can house all your guests. This way you can save on hotel bills and ensure that your guests are in one location. Food can be arranged at the farmhouse in the form of local catering and transport in the form of a bus. This way you will also save yourself from coming under excessive room service bills.
