'Fading Grandeur' Ending Explained, What Happens To 'Don Leandro' And 'Sofia' In Netflix's Finale?

Netflix's Spanish series Fading Grandeur follows the journey of two con artists. They hide their true identities as they try to win against each other. It ends with a chaotic hunting trip and something unexpected. However, some secrets remain unresolved, leaving room for a possible second season.

What is the plot of Fading Grandeur? (Spoilers ahead)

Fading Grandeur follows 'Don Leandro', played by Antonia de la Torre. He is an aristocrat who has a famous title but almost no money. He struggles to maintain his upper-class lifestyle while his deteriorating family mansion becomes expensive to maintain. In fact, his butler, 'Fidel', played by Enric Benavent, even rents out some parts of the property to help them cover the bills.

Things become more complicated when 'Leandro' finds out that his daughter, 'Martina', played by Lia Lois, is pregnant. Since the baby's father belongs to another aristocratic family, 'Leandro' promises to pay for their wedding. Eventually, when he has no way to pay for their wedding, he decides to sell the mansion. His hopes increase after he meets 'Sofia Carrington,' played by Alexandra Jiménez. She is a wealthy businesswoman who seems interested in buying the property.

However, in reality, 'Sofia', is a working-class woman running her own con. On one hand, 'Leandro' hides his financial problems, while she hides her identity and intentions. These attempts to deceive each other lead them into a series of complex lies.

The finale brings the deception to its peak during a hunting trip at the marquis' country estate. 'Leandro' spent most of the series hoping to get the prestigious title of grandee from the Royal House to seal his position in high society. However, 'Pelayo', the Royal House Secretary, tells him that the title will never be given. It makes him realize that his aristocratic status cannot help him with his financial issues.

The situation becomes more grim for him when he finds out that many people around him, like his associate 'Gonzalo', have been deceiving him. After finding out that others think he is a fool, he gets angry and says that he is having an affair with his ex-wife, 'Sonsoles'. The fight intensified as men drew their weapons.

However, 'Leandro' missed his chance to shoot 'Gonzalo' and shot the largest wild boar on the estate. Rather than getting punished for it, he is praised for his hunting skills. 'Gonzalo,' who is also unaware of his intentions, begins to praise him.

The bizarre situation changes 'Leandro's thinking. He tells 'Sofia', whose real name is 'Conchi', that she is the best thing in his life. He uses the money he took from her to repay his daughter's wedding. Instead of going for social glory, he decides to support his family. However, 'Sofia's' scam remains a secret.

Will Fading Grandeur have a Season 2?

Netflix has not officially announced any second season of Fading Grandeur. Since the series arrived on Netflix on October 23, 2026, the streaming service may need time to assess its viewership before making a decision.

However, the finale leaves many cliffhangers for a possible sequel. 'Sofia's' undisclosed role in the estate scam can threaten her bond with 'Leandro'. Meanwhile, 'Leandro' is still in financial trouble and has unresolved debts to vendors.
