Everybody Loves Sohrab Handa was released on Zee5 on April 10, 2026. The film, directed by Rajat Kapoor, stars Vinay Pathak and Ranvir Shorey and follows an investigation into the murder of an arrogant man at a party. However, as they dive deeper into what happened, things become more complicated than any of them had anticipated.
Everybody Loves Sohrab Handa begins with 'Raman' and 'Jayanti' inviting their friends to a resort to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary. However, things take a dark turn when a guest named 'Sohrab Handa' begins bullying everyone and exposing their darkest secrets. As the sun rises the next morning, 'Sohrab' is found murdered, and the guests become the prime suspects. As 'Inspector Qureshi' arrives to find out what exactly went down, one thing is for sure: even 'nice' people can hide a deadly streak.

Vinay Pathak wins over the audience with his impeccable performance, and with the star cast including some of the most talented actors such as Ranvir Shorey, Saurabh Shukla, Waluscha De Sousa, Neil Bhoopalam and Kankana Chakraborty, Everybody Loves Sohrab Handa settles at a brilliant pace, allowing the viewers to deeply connect with the film. Koel Purie and Chandrachoor Rai shine the most among others. M K Raina and Rajat Kapoor lend authority to their brief yet assured portrayals.

Everybody Loves Sohrab Handa is set in the urban high society. The story began in a 100-year-old bungalow as a night of laughter, drinking, games, and nostalgia. However, it quickly turns sour as old resentments, hidden grudges, and personal tensions bubble to the surface. The next thing we know, 'Sohrab' is found dead with his throat slit in the hall. As the investigation begins, the first thing 'Sohrab's' demise breaks is the fake civility among the guests. Led by a sleep-deprived and straightforward inspector, 'Afzal Qureshi', the search for the killer takes a massive turn when everyone is revealed to have a motive to murder 'Sohrab'. 'Sohrab Handa' is brutal, whereas 'Madhavan' is a gentle philosophy professor with his young, besotted student, and 'Chandra' is a perceptive psychologist.

As the film continues, the two reveal the masks society and individuals wear, unravelling friendships as they crack under the pressure of suspicion. Rajat Kapoor explores the irony of the title by showing the viewers how love can coexist with deep loathing in close relationships. While the film had been waiting in the wings for a while, the director's probing gaze feels even more timely now. Rajat Kapoor has once again proved how well he understands the matters and moments that probe the human psyche. The film's core is the conversation, which dissects urban social circles to highlight the hypocrisies we live with, and it is beautifully rooted in witty dialogue that reflects uncomfortable truths.

Everybody Loves Sohrab Handa is a beautifully written and executed script that focuses on the uncomfortable truths of society. While it is not the best suspense thriller available, it definitely succeeds in hooking everyone. Talking about 'Sohrab Handa's' killer, in a twisted revelation, we find out that the arrogant man is killed by 'Sandeep' essayed by Sharat Katariya. While Everybody Loves Sohrab Handa presented several "red herrings" (such as the business partner, Raman or the sleepwalking wife, Isha, the investigation led by 'Inspector Afzal' (Saurabh Shukla) and the psychoanalysis by 'Dr. Chandra' (Rajat Kapoor) eventually points to the person who had been the most quietly humiliated.

The next big question was, why would 'Sandeep' kill 'Sohrab Handa'? Well, in the very beginning of the film, it was revealed how 'Sohrab' used everyone's secrets to emotionally abuse and humiliate them. The man was the definition of a bully and spent most of the night taking digs at his "friends", and 'Sandeep' was the primary target of this bullying; in one notable scene, 'Sohrab' was even seen forcing 'Sandeep' to eat food laden with excessive salt just to exert power over him. The murder wasn't a grand, calculated scheme but a "breaking point" response to 'Sohrab Handa's' constant bullying.
The thoughtfully assembled cast keeps the story alive and uncomfortably real at the same time. Vinay, Ranvir, and Rajat's on-screen presence and coordination speak to their off-screen journey as peers. And just like frenemies, they know how to push each other's buttons over a glass of wine. It is good to see veteran actor, M.K. Raina cast in a role that holds value to the film. Koel Purie's role in Everybody Loves Sohrab Handa is efficient as the long-suffering wife of 'Sohrab'. However, her unpredictable behaviour ultimately makes her a prime suspect in the film. Sadiya Siddiqui retains her freshness as the everyday woman interested in a moment of freedom.
