'Euphoria' Season 3 Episode 2 Gives Rue's Story A Dark Turn, Maddy's Hollywood Gamble Backfires

Euphoria Season 3 Episode 2 is out, and fans have been on the edge of their seats to see how their favourite show has taken a dark turn. Titled American Dream, Episode 2 takes a deep dive into the old maxim that has never been truer than in this episode of Euphoria. It appears to be that everyone is either selling, buying, or leveraging flesh, and Sam Levinson has nothing against showing it all.

However, the episode brings good news for Alexa Demie fans: she shines the brightest in Episode 2, as her character 'Maddy' gets more screen time. Fans not only get to see her, but also get to explore her unglamorous job as an assistant talent manager the old-fashioned way: by marching up to her prospective boss at a diner and demanding she give her a chance. Warning: Spoilers ahead!

What happened in Euphoria Season 3 Episode 2?

Nonetheless, it's not the worst bit that 'Maddy' is willing to skewer her competition, telling 'Ms. Penzler' essayed by Rebecca Pidgeon that, while as a child of immigrants, she didn’t even bother applying to college, let alone attend an entertainment-industry feeder school like USC, but she's "not entitled, not a victim, not an HR nightmare." Euphoria Season 3 Episode 2 also explores other arcs, including 'Rue' becoming a drug mule and finding God, as things get even darker.

After transporting the drugs across the US-Mexico border for 'Laurie' in Episode 1, the recent episode further explored how it all went down. It also gave viewers insight into 'Cassie' and 'Nate's' wedding plans, as well as her efforts to become TikTok famous and his faltering building business. Meanwhile, 'Jules' focuses on studying art and making money as a 'Sugar Baby'. However, while 'Fez' was forced to suffer in prison for a long time.

'Maddy's' missed opportunity to get rich

'Maddy' and 'Lexi' are working jobs in Hollywood. Euphoria Season 3 Episode 2 further explores the former's arc, with her arriving in Hollywood, confidently pitching herself to a management agency, and landing a gig. However, it turns out to be a low-level job that doesn't meet her ambitions, so 'Maddy' secretly begins representing an influencer who starts posting adult content. She later hooks her up with an actor at her day job. Nonetheless, things get tricky when her boss finds out about the situation, and 'Maddy' is forced to drop the client after her boss reads her the riot act.

Unfortunately, losing the client comes with a hefty price for 'Maddy' as she ends up missing out on the opportunity to get rich when the girl's career takes off. Later in the episode, we see her agree to meet with 'Cassie'. However, her intentions might not be as pure as they appear. For 'Maddy' its a potential way to destroy 'Cassie's' relationship with 'Nate' after she suggests she gives nudes a go. In return, 'Cassie' invites 'Maddy' to her and 'Nate's' wedding.

'Rue's' story takes a dark turn

'Rue' has been knee-deep in the world of organised crime. Her story takes a dark turn after 'Alamo' has her destroying every trace of 'Trish', the stripper who died of a drug overdose in Euphoria Season 3 Episode 1. 'Alamo' demands 'Rue' from 'Laurie' as a way of payback, which means she was now free from her old debt but only through a 'deal with the devil'. However, 'Alamo' is not here to grant any wishes, which means 'Rue' now has to work at the 'Silver Stripper' club, where her role is to keep the dancers in line and completely loaded with drugs.

While it is not the most appropriate place for her, as we learn that she 'relapsed badly' after school and hasn't really been sober since. 'Rue' soon finds out that 'Silver Stripper' is the same club 'Trish' worked at and forms a friendship with her "hellcat" friend, 'Angel'. However, things once again take a dark turn when 'Angel' starts asking questions about 'Trish's' whereabouts, leading 'Rue' to tell her the truth. She is then ordered to take 'Angel' to the 'Hope Springs' rehab centre, where something seems decidedly off.

Late actor, Eric Lane returns as 'Cal' for the last time to open up about his five years of hell

Fans also get to see the late actor, Eric Lane, as 'Cal' for what could possibly be the last time. He talks about his humiliating five years as a broke sexual deviant who narrowly avoided prison and now drinks too much. While 'Nate' is revealed to be running his former business to the ground, owing USD 550,000 and needing USD 100,000 by the end of the week, he does this by encouraging more of his friends to invest in the failing company. As for 'Jules', she is now living in a penthouse as a 'Sugar Baby'.
