Erling Haaland has found himself in the headlines for something that nobody saw coming. With the new season, Haaland brought out a new look by ditching his long blonde locks. It left everyone shocked ahead of Manchester City’s Premier League opener against Bournemouth. Apart from fans, the Norwegian soccer star’s longtime girlfriend, Isabel Haugseng Johansen, also had a strong reaction to Haaland’s new haircut.

On August 23, 2026, Erling Haaland dropped several photos across social media as well as YouTube, where he showed off his new short hair. The reason it immediately grabbed attention is that this marks quite a shift for Haaland, as he had kept his Viking-like hair through all four years that he had spent with Manchester City.

In the YouTube video that Haaland posted, his girlfriend, Isabel Haugseng Johansen, also made an appearance. She confessed, “I think I will cry” when his long locks would be gone.

As soon as Haaland’s haircut began and the first few inches of his hair were cut off, Isabel could not help but yelp out loud. She said, “Oh my God,” while looking at the hair on her hands. When Haaland finally achieved his desired buzzcut look, Isabel yelped once again. In the YouTube video, Haaland revealed what made him cut his hair. According to him, he had been thinking of doing this since after the 2026 World Cup. But it ended up getting delayed as he was too busy. He finally thought that it was “time to get a fresh start” as the new season began.

While he had made up his mind to let go of his long locks, Haaland was still nervous about the haircut. Referring to what former Swedish soccer star Zlatan Ibrahimovic told him, he said:

It is worth mentioning that Isabel, who posted a photo from Haaland’s recent match on her Instagram story, also got a fresh haircut. Although she did not go as extreme as her boyfriend, the model went for a slightly shorter bob.
