The popular celebrity chat show, Koffee With Karan has always been synonyms to controversies. For years, the show has been a constant guilty pleasure for Bollywood buffs and celebrity lovers. While many secrets got spilled on the koffee couch every season, this year the episode with Indian cricketers, Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul went a little too far. It all started with Hardik’s comments against women that created havoc among the viewers of the show. Later, the Board of Control for Cricket in India took legal action against him and KL Rahul by banning them from the ODI series against Australia. Now, here is the latest update on the much-talked-about controversy. Hardik’s ex-girlfriend, Elli AvRam has commented on the entire controversy.
On January 17, 2019, Elli attended the 25th SOL Lions Gold Awards 2019, and in a media interaction reacted for the first time about Hardik’s sexist comments. The actress said, “K! So.. regarding this... like I said I just came back to India and I have been getting messages from journalists who have been asking me questions regarding this and i had no idea what they were talking about. But then I have seen certain footage and...[Gestures with hands & takes a pause]..yeah! Like how he has spoken and I just think it's very sad!” (Also Read: Priyanka Chopra Jonas-Nick Jonas Walk Holding Hands As They Start Married Life In LA, Pics Inside)
Elli further added, “I got a little bit surprised because that's not really the Hardik Pandya I personally once used to know! But yeah! I think it's great that people are reacting and putting their foot down on this kind of behaviour because it's about time we all realize that this kind of mentality is not cool. Neither is it something to brag about.” She further added, “I mean we are living in 2019 and women are now having a voice, they speak up for themselves and they are not tolerating to be disrespected or looked upon as an object. So yeah! That's what I believe and I think it's great.”
Elli also talked about the suspension, and commented, “In terms of what is happening from what I read, they are getting suspended right? I mean I just feel when you get an opportunity to represent your country, it's a really big privilege to get that and it shouldn't be taken lightly! I believe because by the end of the day the youth that is our next generation is actually…they are watching and learning from their idols. So... that's all I have to say on this!” (You May Also Like: Shah Rukh Khan Explains The 'Playboys' Mantra' With Pictures Of His Boys Aryan Khan And AbRam Khan)
Earlier, this week, Hardik’s rumoured ex-girlfriend, Esha Gupta had slammed him openly. At an event, when she was asked about her opinion on Hardik’s comments, the actress first said, “Who is the one who told you, he is my friend?”

She further commented on the Koffee controversy, and said, “Firstly, women should not compare themselves with men. We are the best in every respect. I don’t want anyone to feel bad, but why don’t you give birth to a child? We suffer from periods five days every month and even then we have to dance, go to an office, and take care of the children. When you can do all this, you become superior.”Many opposed his comments publically on Twitter and raised their voice. Former BCCI general manager, Ratnakar Shetty called Hardik Pandya “a disgrace to the cricket community”. In his tweet, he wrote, “It is time the BCCI decides to take corrective steps for cricketers who talk rubbish on public platforms. Hardik Pandya was a disgrace to the cricket community the way he spoke on Koffee with Karan show. He has insulted the women and also made a racist remark.” (Don't Miss: 11 Bollywood Star Kids And Their 'Not So Secret' Love Affairs That Grabbed The Limelight)

After the episode’s telecast, the controversy got heated and Hardik posted a public apology on his Instagram handle, and wrote, “After reflecting on my comments on Koffee with Karan, I would like to apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in a way. Honestly, I got a bit carried away with the nature of the show. In no way did I mean to disrespect of hurt anyone’s sentiments. Respect.” Check out the post here:
