The dispatch audio switches between different groups as the dispatchers scramble to get units to the incident site.
Dispatch audio from the tragic helicopter crash shows the frantic response as authorities scramble to coordinate help. In the audio, law enforcement is heard calling for multiple units from police and fire response. The audio features a female saying, "Officer needs help. DeSoto, air unit is down." Following this, a man explains what has happened and is quoted as saying:
"26L10, I'm gonna be the commander on this helicopter incident. I'm gonna need fire. We're gonna have him come."
They can be heard repeatedly mentioning a helicopter that collided with a structure. The female dispatcher is heard saying, "Officer needs help. DeSoto and Nordoff. Officer needs help. Air unit is down." However, that's when another man informs her that "Air 10 is off," to which she immediately counters, "Sure, turn on, turn on when I sign it; repeat your receiver."
The first man once again repeats that the helicopter has collided with the structure and told the dispatcher that they make it a help call. The female dispatcher is again heard calling to all area units to respond when another man is heard saying, "10847, can we assign the code 3 call to watch 3? We're gonna respond to the health call." The audio ends with the first male dispatcher clarifying that the type of chopper that went down was, in fact, a news helicopter, and multiple units rush to the fatal crash. He is quoted as saying:
"Just, further info, on my initial observation of the helicopter before with the girlfriend, it seems to be a news helicopter, not a LAPD helicopter."

The crash took place in Los Angeles on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, in the Chatsworth area of the San Fernando Valley. According to reports, the helicopter clashed just before 7 PM local time as the news chopper was covering a separate road traffic accident. Angel City Air operated the helicopter, which was affiliated with NBC Los Angeles.
While what led to the helicopter crashing is still being investigated, the news of Eliana Monero's death has left everyone shocked. Following the dispatch call, officers started closing off the streets surrounding the crash scene due to fuel leakage concerns. NBC Los Angeles and Telemundo 52 wrote in a joint statement that read:
