Maharashtra's Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde's new side was seen during his first speech in the assembly. He broke down while remembering the worse phase of his life when he had lost his two children during a boating incident in the year 2000. Eknath Shinde also revealed how he was left heartbroken and had thought of giving up on life.
For the unversed, Eknath Shinde is married to Lata Shinde. The couple was blessed with three kids — one daughter and two sons. However, on June 2, 2000, Eknath Shinde's life had changed forever after his son, Dipesh (11) and daughter, Shubhada (7) went boating on a lake in their native village.

On July 4, 2022, Eknath Shinde bared his heart out on the heartbreaking incident. During his speech, Eknath recalled the incident, after which he was in depression for years. Talking about his mother's death and his children's death, Eknath said:
"They attacked my family...My father is alive, my mother died. I could not give much time to my parents. They would be asleep when I came and would go to work when I slept. I could not give much time to my son Shrikant. My two children died - at the time, Anand Dighe consoled me. I used to think, what is there to live for? I will stay with my family."
During his speech, Eknath Shinde revealed that it was Shiv Sena icon, Anand Dighe who had helped him recover and had made him the leader of the Shiv Sena in the assembly. Mr Shinde grieved for a long time.
For those who don't know, Eknath Shinde's elder son, Shrikanth Shinde is a Shiv Sena MP.
