Duck Dynasty's Alan Robertson Separated From Wife, Lisa Due To Her Affair, 'Can't Trust Her Again'

Duck Dynasty is a popular American reality television franchise that follows the lives of the Robertson family and their multi-million-dollar business, Duck Commander. The show premiered on A&E Network in March 2012 and concluded its 11-season run in April 2017. Its cast, particularly Alan 'Al' Robertson and his wife, Lisa Robertson are currently leading the headlines, due to a bombshell revelation regarding their personal life. Al is the eldest son of Phil and Kay Robertson and a former pastor.

Al is all over the news currently, because he and his spouse, Lisa revealed that she was involved in an extramarital affair with an ex-boyfriend, while being 15 years into marriage. He openly discussed the painful chapter of his life without withholding any details from the fans. This aspect of the couple's story is the focus of a new Lifetime movie titled Faith & Forgiveness: A Duck Dynasty Love Story, which premieres on May 16, 2026. Inside Al Robertson and Lisa Robertson's life during separation

Al Robertson shared that he had a hunch that his wife, Lisa Robertson, had been cheating on him for months. Al's suspicion was finally proven right when he found her phone records proving the affair in August 1999, leading to an intense confrontation. He then demanded that Lisa leave, and the couple got legally separated. During the initial separation period, he thought their relationship was "probably over" and beyond repair. It was a very painful phase for Al as he thought that Lisa didn't want to be with him anymore. He also thought he wouldn't be able to trust her again. His exact words were:

"I think for the first few weeks, I was leaning toward thinking that it was probably over. I was just not sure if I could ever fully trust again. [I wasn't] sure Lisa really wanted to be in our marriage."

Lisa Robertson and Al Robertson's reconciliation

Al and Lisa Robertson's reconciliation took place after she realised her mistake and "called out to God" for help. She was shattered inside and repented for cheating on her husband. The estranged couple went through intense professional counselling to address underlying issues in their marriage. They included Lisa's previous traumatic experience of childhood abuse, leading to emotional distance from Al and a profanity to cheat on him. The therapy proved to be beneficial, and they reconciled. Following that, the couple held a private vow-renewal ceremony in December 1999.

Since their reconciliation, Lisa and Al have become public advocates for marriage counselling and forgiveness. To reach that point, Lisa changed herself completely and committed to becoming a better person for her husband, Al Robertson. She told Fox News Digital that she changed her style of dressing, makeup, and mannerisms, particularly how she behaved around men. She might have wanted to make sure that she didn't come across as interested in them romantically. Revealing that she changed many aspects about herself, Lisa Robertson stated:

"I changed the way I dressed. I changed the way I wore makeup. I changed what I listened to. I changed the way I approached men. I changed the way I talked because I had a potty mouth. I changed so many things."

Al and Lisa first met in a McDonald's parking lot when he was 17, and she was 15. They became high school sweethearts and, after years of dating, walked down the aisle in 1989. They have two married daughters and six grandchildren. Al and Lisa's marriage faced the threat of ending for good due to her 1999 affair, however after separating for a few months, they got back together. The couple's bond has since grown stronger than ever, and they have been together for four decades now.
