DTF St. Louis has been creating headlines since its premiere on HBO. And now, after a weeks-long wait, the audience finally has the answers to all of their questions, some of which they didn't even ask. So, as the truth unravels, let's take a quick look at what happened in DTF St. Louis Episode 7. Warning: Spoilers ahead!
Since DTF St. Louis Episode 3 was released weeks ago, the audience has presumed that 'Carol' was behind 'Floyd's' death. Viewers believed that she had altered the scene to get the insurance money after 'Floyd' took his own life. However, while the details were never explored, the final episode has filled in those blanks. It was established that 'Floyd' has all these love-based hopes and desires, which blew up in his face when 'Carol' lost all sexual desire for him.

Things got worse when even 'Clark's' attempt to set him up on the 'DTF St. Louis' app failed, with his alleged 'date' rejecting him on sight. While the successive episodes suggested that 'Clark' might be interested in something more than friendship, that too fell apart. However, the last straw came when his stepson, 'Richard', was evidently disturbed by what he witnessed between 'Floyd' and 'Clark'. The heartbreak led 'Floyd' to sign his final "I love you" to 'Richard' before downing his over-medicated drink, leading to his demise.

'Carol's' struggle with love, work and money is not something the audience has been unaware of. However, viewers believed that it was her past that would heavily play into her role in 'Floyd's' death. While some believed that it would be linked to 'Richard's' father, others assumed that the revelation of 'Carol's sealed records would have something to do with what happened. Nonetheless, what was claimed to be a 'game-changing reveal', didn't really change much. It turned out that 'Carol's' records revealed she was actually 'Jean Valjean' from 'DFT St. Louis' and that she had been caught shoplifting food when young. However, it was more out of desperation than 'Carol's' aim to create trouble.

The finale further revealed that, despite 'Carol's' financial constraints, some of her happiest moments were spent buying things for 'Richard' that she'd previously been unable to afford. The revelations asserted how most of her actions were based on her financial struggles and desire to provide comfort for her son, 'Richard'. While her sexual encounter with 'Chuck' wasn't the worst bonus, her focus entirely remained on finding financial stability, especially given the number of times she mentioned her debt and 'Floyd's' life insurance. While the point behind the insurance angle remained unclear, given she didn't plan on getting the payout anytime soon, the revelations didn't change 'Carol's' "What a bitch" image either, though it softened the edges.

The viewers weren't surprised to learn that 'Clark's' only desire throughout the season has been tied to being sexually involved with 'Carol', and hanging out with 'Floyd'. While it was the "loneliest kind of lonely", 'Clark' didn't have any ill will towards 'Floyd' and only wanted the best for his friend, so much so that it even became a way to fulfil the void in his own life. However, though 'Clark' felt that fooling around with 'Floyd' might help with the latter's confidence, his own physical reactions didn't back him up as strongly. Talking about the remainder of the 'Forrest' family, they collectively became the most tragic characters in the show, and victims of 'Clark's' infidelity. However, something made his life feel immensely familiar, especially after he finally voiced his feelings about loneliness, that literally everything in his life was stripped away.

While DTF St. Louis didn't seem to be the kind of show that would lean into a recurring pattern of 'Floyd' retelling the extended version of his bent-penis injury, the audience figured out soon enough that it wasn't a topic that was too out of reach. However, after multiple false "how it happened" starts, 'Floyd' finally landed the anecdote plane, sharing that his early-day job search, which transitioned into an embrace of sign language instruction, led to an evening argument with 'Carol' that left her in tears.
However, 'Carol' herself described that day as one of the worst, but also clarified that it had nothing to do with 'Floyd's' genitals. As it turned out, 'Richard' was not happy about his mother being left in tears by 'Floyd' and decided to avenge her by taking a baseball bat to 'Floyd's' groin later that night. This presents a strange cycle where 'Richard' was tangentially involved in two of 'Floyd's' lowest moments.
