She later told Vogue the proposal happened in October 2025 at home while she was barefaced in a big T-shirt with damp hair and no makeup, calling it very sweet and unplanned.

She further stated that while pictures from her recent trip to Malta for an awards event continue to circulate, their actual daily life in between had been much more ordinary, spent doing things like buying groceries, making meals at home, and learning how to use a new kitchen appliance.
Dove also noted that they intentionally make time to live in each other's home countries, given that he is originally from Rome and she was raised in Los Angeles. Cameron shared that stepping into environments that were unfamiliar to her and feeling welcomed has become deeply meaningful, adding that meeting people there often gives her an instant sense of familiarity. She described her ideal as quickly moving past introductions into genuine friendship with everyone she meets.
