Doja Cat, the renowned rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer, needs no introduction. The Grammy Award-winning singer and rapper is widely known for her hits, including Say So and Paint the Town Red. Time and again, Doja grabbed a lot of attention for her bold persona, and she has never shied away from speaking her mind. In a recent conversation, Doja revealed that sometimes she dresses up ugly for paps. However, it was her reason behind such a statement that stole the spotlight.
Recently, Doja sat for a conversation with Vogue for their April cover story. During the conversation, the popular rapper and singer revealed that she wants to step out in public and shop just like a non-celebrity. Doja shared that the constant surveillance by the paps makes her upset. However, she has found a unique way to stop it. Paint the Town Red singer stated that she has found a creative way to solve the issue. Doja added that she sometimes tries to look ugly in public. She was quoted as saying:
"It makes me so upset. Will I go up to somebody and be like, 'Stop f---ing filming me,' and cuss them out? No, I’m not going to do that. I don’t want to do that. I think I would rather do it in a creative way. Sometimes I try to look purposefully ugly. I turn it into a game."

During the same conversation, Doja Cat opened up about her need for privacy. In the same interview, the popular rapper and singer revealed that when she was a teenager, she was an agoraphobic and couldn’t leave her house. Doja mentioned that she still likes being alone sometimes. She highlighted that during this solitude phase, she rests and recharges herself. She also called herself a 'hermit.' She was quoted as saying:
"I was agoraphobic, fully. I couldn’t leave my house. Staying alone is like restimulating my creative bone. I am a hermit. When I’m home, I’m just home with my cat."

In a 2023 interaction with Ebro Darden, Doja Cat shared her desire for privacy and navigating through fame and success. She explained that often, people misinterpret her urge to stay private. She mentioned that there have been speculations that she hates her fans, but it’s not true. She was quoted as saying:
"One thing that I do want to set straight is that you’ll never see a direct quote of me saying, 'I hate my fans,' Not once. But it’s a really big misquoted thing where everybody is saying she hates her fans. It’s definitely something, and I know that people who get it, get it, and I’m fine with that. I’m doing what I can slowly but surely to separate myself from this narrative or whatever this world is that I built. I’m fine tuning it and tailoring it to what I want out of it."

Doja Cat is best known for her versatility and her unique blend of pop, rap, R&B, and experimental sounds. With her 2018 single, Mooo!, Doja received widespread fame and became an overnight sensation. Doja and her friend, SZA, won the Grammy Award for their song, Kiss Me More. It is worth mentioning that it was Doja’s first Emmy Award win. She also won six Billboard Music Awards, five American Music Awards, six MTV Video Music Awards and eight iHeartRadio Music Awards.
