However, it was her role as 'Zainab' in the Punjabi film, Shaheed-e-Mohabbat Boota Singh, that made her an overnight sensation. Coming to her personal life, the Indian actress is happily single. In a recent interview, Divya revealed the reason behind the following.

In a candid interview with Pinkvilla, Divya Dutta revealed the reason behind staying single at the age of 48. The Ishq Mein Jeena Ishq Mein Marna actress shared that she learned some tough lessons from her past relationships. Divya mentioned that she tried to find love many times, but she felt marriages and partnerships require equal efforts. She highlighted that being an actress, her life is unpredictable, and thus, she requires a mature person who would understand her profession and hold her hand through thick and thin. However, none of her past relationships worked out well. She was quoted as saying:

"Ye bahot galatiya karke seekha hai. I sought it quite a few times, but when you talk about marriage or partnership, it is something that needs a lot of mutual nurturing to be with the right person. Aap actor hai, unpredictable job hai, upar se high-profile hai. Dimaag bhi rakhte hai toh easy combo toh hain nhi."

Divya Dutta shares that she is open to love but has no desire to get married

Further in the interview, Divya admitted that she met some nice guys in the past. However, after dating them, she understood that they were not the right match for her. The actress mentioned that she realised this only after going through some difficult experiences. As time passed, she realised that she was at peace without a partner. Divya highlighted that during the pandemic, she thought a lot about this and concluded that she won’t seek love outside. Divya added that while she is still open to love, she has no desire to get married. She said, "I realised it the wrong way. I am still open to love, but I don’t think I would want to get married."

When Divya Dutta talked about her views on marriage

In a past interview with Hindi Rush, Divya talked about her views on marriage. She shared that if a person finds a good partner, it’s nice to get married, but if not, then life needs to move on. She mentioned that it’s better to nurture oneself than maintain a dysfunctional marriage. She highlighted that rather than lowering oneself in a relationship, it’s better to love oneself. She was quoted as saying:

"If you find a good partner, it's great to be married. If not, life moves on beautifully. It's better to nurture yourself than stay in a dysfunctional marriage. Rather than lowering yourself in a relationship, it's better to love yourself. There’s a lot of male attention coming my way, and I enjoy that, but a relationship should happen when you connect. You feel that the person can hold your hand. If that isn’t there, I have many lovely friends around me, and I am there for myself."

Further in the interview, the host asked Divya why she chose not to marry. In response, Divya gave a candid reply and said that she held many wrong hands in life. She shared that while she stayed away from marriage, she would love to have a companion and explore the world together. She was quoted as saying:

"Kyunki mai ne bahut galat haath pakade hai. Toh aap aisa seekhte hai. Trial-and-error learning hoti hai jindagi mein. Mai toh bahut Yash Chopra, Karan Johar wali filmon ki, Karwa Chauth, yeh sab waali feeling rakhti thi. Lekin, there comes a time when you feel you need to look for completeness outside, which is not necessary. Vo bhi seekhte hai. Vo bhi aap seekhte hai ki acha life partner aayega, aisa jarruri nahi hai. Aap completeness apne mein aap mein dhunde tab aap koi aakar us cheej ko cherish kar skta hai."
