Divya Dutta is an immensely talented Indian actress, who has made a mark in both mainstream and parallel cinema with her exceptional acting skills. The stunning and exceptionally talented actress arrived in the film industry with her debut film, Ishq Mein Jeena Ishq Mein Marna, which was released back in 1994. However, it was her acting performance in the critically-acclaimed movie, Train to Pakistan that established her as a promising actress in the Hindi film industry. Since then, we have seen her in a series of iconic films. Some of them are the likes of Veer-Zaara, Delhi-6, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Irada, and many more.
In the latest heart-to-heart conversation with Samdish Bhatia on his celebrity talk show, Unfiltered by Samdish, Divya Dutta talked about her personal life, her acting career in cinema, and also recalled some of the most memorable characters that she played on the big screen. During a segment on the show, the 45-year-old actress was asked about her dating life, and it was when she opened up about the time when her nani sent a rishta for her when she was just around the age of 19.

Sharing details about the hilarious incident, Divya Dutta stated that her mother was never too bothered about her marriage. However, it was her nani, who was quite concerned about her marriage, and hence she sent a rishta for her one time. Although, Divya has already said to her nani and mother that she isn’t going to get married so early in life. But her mother convinced her to at least meet the boy just for the sake of her nani. So the actress agreed to it and met the boy, who came to her home in a fully suited and booted avatar along with a rose. She said:
"My maternal grandmother used to send me typical matches. In fact, I have written about it in my first book. Somebody just came to, and my grandmother said meet him. I used to live alone at that time. I said I don’t want to get married now. She said meet him my mother said to me meet him. You have already refused. Meet him just to keep your grandmother’s heart. I said okay. Call him. I had two entrances in my house. He came through the main entrance. He was full suited and booted and with a rose in his hands."
Continuing her revelation, Divya Dutta shared how she always wanted to break the age-old cliches like a girl needs to serve tea to a guy and his family when they come for a meeting. The actress was against these practices and wanted to break them. Hence, she told her house to help serve the tea to the guy. It left the show’s host in splits as Divya can also be seen laughing her heart out while recalling the incident. In her words:
"And I am insolent to another level. I can’t control my laughter. When I came from there and my maid told me, Didi, he has come. The scenario where I am going with a tray of tea and offering him. I had to break all these cliches. I said serve him tea, I am coming. I am not serving him tea. Although I used to serve tea to all the guests. I said I won’t serve the tea to him. Then I went and I saw him. And he was like you say yes and we will get married."

Further, in the conversation with Samdish Bhatia, Divya Dutta revealed the hilarious thing that she did, which she shouldn’t be doing. The actress shared that she could not control her laughter, and hence, when she saw the guy in a suit with a rose in his hands, she burst out in laughter. Divya admitted that it was her fault and she shouldn’t be doing it. However, she couldn’t control her laughter. After which, it was quite understandable why the guy rejected her and she called her nani to share the details of the incident with her. Revealing her nani’s reaction, Divya said:
"He had brought a rose. I tried to control my laughter. I tried to have a polite conversation. Then I did what I shouldn’t have done. I started laughing. And I laughed and laughed and then I went inside. And I called my grandma and said, should I refuse or not. He has already said no. I am already rejected. she (nani) stopped sending marriage proposals."
