'Disclosure Day' Drops Teaser At Super Bowl LX, Reunites Steven Spielberg With His Alien 'Friends'

After months of hustle, chase, touchdowns, and wait, we are finally at the biggest and most celebrated entertainment event of the year, Super Bowl 2026. However, the event is not just a normal sports event; it's a beautiful blend of several branches of entertainment, and the whole world is grinding to a standstill to mark the occasion. Not just for the finals between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks, but also for the release of a new Steven Spielberg movie, Disclosure Day. Yes! You heard that right: Steven will be returning to his much-loved genre after a long time, and the announcement has come on the biggest sports stage, Super Bowl LX.

Steven Spielberg is all set to mark his return to the sci-fi genre with Disclosure Day

After E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and War of the Worlds, Steven Spielberg is finally returning to the sci-fi genre, and the UFO/alien invasion scene is certainly driving up its fair share of interest. So much so that Universal Pictures is all set for a highly coveted Super Bowl trailer. According to reports, 2026 will bring Steven back to one of his most iconic spaces after his last project, which got very personal back in 2022.

Yes, we are talking about the actor's semi-autobiography/therapy session, The Fabelmans. However, Steven Spielberg is now all set to move past the sentimental parts and is committed to returning to something familiar to the actor: an alien first-contact movie. Nonetheless, what is Disclosure Day about, and why is it being featured at the Super Bowl?

What to expect from Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day?

Ever since the film was announced, it has been creating waves online. Fans are eager to know whether Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day leans more toward an optimistic depiction of intergalactics, as in Close Encounters of the Third Kind? Or will it be extremely terrifying, like Steven Spielberg's 2005 adaptation of War of the Worlds, which is by far one of the scariest blockbusters ever made. While fans have several questions, Disclosure Day has left room for both possibilities, somehow making it even more unsettling.

The teaser offered a glimpse of the movie's star-studded cast, including Josh O'Connor, Emily Blunt, Colman Domingo, and Colin Firth. The few dialogues in the teaser also hint at why the makers might have chosen Disclosure Day as the film's title. According to the teaser, it appears that someone, either the U.S. government and/or several world governments, already knew about the aliens, and Hish O'Connor's character intends to disclose what they knew.

However, a motif in the teaser is a series of close-ups of people's pupils growing larger. Between that and a character asking, "Are they people?", could the aliens have been living disguised as humans? The teaser alone has drawn attention, creating further buzz around Steven Spielberg's return and his role in the film. There are also hints of aliens' power or influence, shown with sections of a wheat field folding down to leave an alien-like shape.

What's even more interesting to watch is how water also bursts from a sewer onto a road and moves on its own. The teaser concludes with a glimpse of an alien ship cutting through the clouds; it looks like a classic flying saucer, but it's obscured enough that we can't tell. If you found the teaser interesting, the wait might be a little longer as Disclosure Day is scheduled for theatrical release on June 12, 2026.
