Dipika Kakar Recalls Breaking Down After Cancer Diagnosis, Not Being Able To Feed Ruhaan, 'Wanted..'

Popular TV actress, Dipika Kakar has been a fighter. The actress fought liver cancer and recently spoke about one of the most vulnerable stages of her life. She remembered of breaking down as she feared being diagnosed with cancer. Dipika recalled the heartbreaking time when she could not feed her son, Ruhaan, and how she was determined to fight cancer all for her son.

Dipika Kakar reveals how she wanted to be fine for her son, Ruhaan

Dipika Kakar and her husband, Shoaib Ibrahim, sat down for an interview with Rashami Desai for her podcast, Rashami Ke Dil Se Dil Tak. The actress opened up about how she and Shoaib, who were co-stars and friends on the sets of Sasural Simar Ka, became life partners. The actress remembered the first time she was diagnosed with cancer, she had to give her son, Ruhaan, to her mom, as he wanted to be fed. All that Dipika prayed was to be fine soon and said:

"That was the first time that I sat in the car and I had to give Ruhaan to my mother as he was crying so much because I couldn’t feed him. And I just broke down. At that moment, a prayer came from my heart that if it’s cancer, I don’t have a complaint. I just want to get better. I know you will make me better. And then we both broke down there."

Dipika, speaking of cancer, revealed that the word in itself was scary for everyone in her family. She shared that if anyone is told that they have cancer, something breaks inside them. That was another reason why she and Shoaib cried inside the lobby and post that they decided that they would not cry anymore. Dipika shared of how she wanted to fight cancer only for her son, Ruhaan, and said:

"She was like, we both felt that okay. Honestly, I have no complaints about not looking good or gaining weight or whether my hair will fall out. You know, throughout all of this, I always told him that I just want to come back fine and be here for Ruhaan."

Dipika Kakar reveals her cancer was only in the tumour, and 22% of her liver was removed

Dipika, earlier in a conversation with Bharti Singh, revealed how a deep investigation had revealed something unexpected. She had to do a FAPI scan, which is like a CT scan, to detect the cancer cells in her overall body, and it revealed that her cancer was only in the tumour. 22% of her liver was removed. She recollected:

"Alhamdulillah, in my case, the best thing was that my cancer was only in the tumour. When we did FAPI last time, there were no other cells in the body at that time. So, we removed 22% of the liver, which was like 11 cm in size. There is one thing, I am on oral targeted therapy, which is like a chemo… it will last for 2 years… we will have to do scans from time to time.”

Dipika, speaking on her love story with Shoaib, revealed she used to spend the whole day chatting with him via songs. Dipika told Rashami that in the mornings, Shoaib would get a line from a song, and she would ponder over it and reply with a line from a song.
