Did Matt Brown Commit Suicide? 'Alaskan Bush People' Star's Brother Says, 'He Called Me After..'

After a long silence over the whereabouts of Matt Brown, there is a possible chance that he might not be alive. These claims are made by his brother, Bear Brown. Although authorities are looking for Matt, they have not declared him officially dead. This uncertain situation came to light after Bear shared an emotional update that his brother was last seen near a river. Since then, there has been no update about him. While the authorities are making maximum efforts to find him, fans are concerned whether he died by suicide or if there is a possibility that he might be alive. 

Did Matt Brown commit suicide? 

At this stage, there is no official confirmation that Matt Brown has died. According to Bear Brown, some witnesses saw his brother near a river in Washington. It was before a current allegedly swept him away. Bear also told his followers through his TikTok handle that has got some information suggesting that Matt might have taken his own life. But, he also highlighted that these reports cannot be independently confirmed. So, the family is still hanging by a thread and hoping for his safety. 

Some local authorities later confirmed that emergency responders were called after someone reported that a man sitting in the shallow water was carried downstream. In turn, they immediately assigned search teams in the area. Some reports also claimed that the rescue operations were facing challenges due to difficult weather conditions. At one point, storms even temporarily forced them to pause their search. Until now, Matt has not been found. At the same time, officials have not released any formal conclusion about his whereabouts. 

What went wrong with Matt Brown?

Matt Brown's emotional comments have also brought attention to what may have been happening in his life before his death. Bear mentioned that he recently spoke with his brother. During the chat, he found that Matt had relapsed after struggling to overcome his addiction issues. According to Bear, Matt admitted that he was falling off his efforts to stay sober after a painful breakup. In turn, Bear encouraged his brother to seek treatment. In his words:

"He called me after that, and he said that he had fallen off the wagon. I was like, 'Well, get back on it, man. Everybody falls off. Get back on it. Go to rehab if you've got to. You've got this. You've fought it a lot before.'"

Later, Bear admitted that although he knew Matt was struggling, he had no idea that his brother would take such a big step. There is an increased concern about Matt's disappearance because he was open about his struggle with substance abuse issues during much of his adult life. Eventually, he entered rehab several years ago. He also left te popular show, Alaskan Bush People to focus on his recovery. Bear mentioned that many people thought his family had cut ties with Matt, but instead, they were trying to help him. However, Matt tried to distance himself from them.

Matt Brown became a popular reality TV personality after his stint on Alaskan Bush People in 2014. He is the oldest son of Billy and Ami Brown's seven children. Personally, he has been admired for his creative personality, survival skills, and unique opinions. He was a significant personality on the Discovery Channel series until he left the show in 2019. Later, he began sharing his life through YouTube and Social media. However, after 2024 he did not share any news post on Instagram. Some followers also alleged that Matt was probably dealing with some financial issues too.
