Dhurandhar has been making headlines for almost two months now, since the time it was released on December 5, 2025. The movie, which is inspired by real-life events, featured five actors who played the roles that were inspired by real-life characters. Ranveer Singh played the role of 'Hamza Ali Mazari', and his acting skills have been making people somewhat obsessed with witnessing this blockbuster again and again. The movie was recently released on Netflix, and once again, it left every other film behind and is continuing to grab attention.
When the movie was announced, it was assumed that Ranveer Singh would be playing the role of Major Mohit Sharma in the movie. There has been much gossip about this, and even a legal issue, as Major Mohit Sharma's family reportedly alleged that no permission was taken from them by Aditya Dhar to feature the late, brave, and elite officer of the Indian Army's 1 PARA.

Later, Aditya Dhar clarified that it was not Major Sharma, whose role was played by Ranveer Singh in the movie. The reasons people linked Ranveer's role to Major Mohit Sharma were that there were several similarities. Major Mohit Sharma took part in an important covert operation back in 2004, when he took the name of 'Iftikhar Bhatt' and infiltrated the Islamist terror outfit, Hizbul Mujahideen. He gained the trust of the terrorists, saying that he would want to take revenge on the Indian army for killing his brother.

Major Mohit Sharma stayed with them by adopting every trait of theirs, and the terrorists also didn't have any idea about the same, while Major Mohit Sharma continued to learn more about the terrorists' network. After his real identity was revealed, he was attacked, but he fought bravely and took down two terrorists, Abu Torara and Abu Sabzar.

With Ranveer Singh's then-released photos and the teaser of the movie, people tried to connect the dots and thought that the actor would essay the role of Major Mohit Sharma. Given the resemblance in long hair and beard, and the similar way they acted while finding a terrorist network in Pakistan and gathering information, people wrongly assumed the actor would play the role of the brave officer. But later, Aditya Dhar clarified the speculations, revealing that it was not Major Mohit Sharma, whose role Ranveer played. CFBC mentioned the movie was fictionalised, while Aditya called it a spy-thriller and not a biopic when Major Mohit Sharma's family came along the legal route.

For the unversed, Ranveer Singh plays the role of 'Hamza Ali Mazari' in the movie, Dhurandhar. 'Hamza' has been assigned by Ajit Doval to spy in Pakistan. If the reports are to be believed, 'Hamza's name was taken by Captain Jaskirat Singh Rangi, a covert agent from the Punjab Regiment, who had a backstory of resentment. In the movie, we have seen 'Hamza' being stuck in his past, which haunts him. The entire history of 'Hamza' will be revealed in Part 2 of the movie, which is slated to be released in March 2026.

Dhurandhar is a movie, which is based on real-life events but was essayed through a cinematic lens. People have been wondering if it could be Aditya Dhar's universe, after they found out that there's a mention of Jaskirat Singh Rangi in another blockbuster of the director, URI: The Surgical Strike. The connection also left people wondering if Ranveer's 'Hamza' will die in Part 2 of Dhurandhar.
In Uri: The Surgical Strike, 'Flight Lieutenant Seerat Kaur' (Kirti Kulhari) was seen conversing with 'Vihaan' (Vicky Kaushal). It was at this moment that 'Jaskirat Singh' was mentioned, and it was revealed that 'Seerat's husband, 'Jaskirat', was in the Punjab regiment and lost his life during the Naushera Sector ambush. So, now the question is whether Dhurandhar is connected to Uri: The Surgical Strike in any way.

There's still no confirmation about how Part 2 will evolve, but with the post-credit scenes in Part 1, it was clarified that 'Hamza' is going after 'Bade Sahab' after killing 'Rehman Dakait'. On the other hand, his past, which is connected to resentment, will also be revealed, so people would have to wait for Part 2 to know more about Ranveer's role.
