Legendary couple, Hema Malini and Dharmendra, had embarked on the journey of 'happily ever after' in 1980. Dharmendra and Hema Malini's iconic love story is one of the most talked-about love affairs in the glamour world. Dharmendra was a married man when he fell in love with the 'Dream Girl' of the industry, Hema Malini. The couple is living in their paradise with their two beautiful girls, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.

As the nation is struggling with the deadly pandemic, everyone is making sure to keep themselves and their loved ones safe. Hema Malini and Dharmendra haven't met each other in over one year. As per the reports, at the onset of COVID-19 itself, Dharmendra had locked himself away in his farmhouse outside Mumbai.
In an interview with SpotboyE, talking about why she hasn't met Dharmendra in over a year, Hema Malini said, “It is best for his safety. Right now, we would rather think about his health than about spending time together. We are going through the worst crisis that mankind has faced in a hundred years. If we must save civilisation we must be strong, even if it means making big sacrifices.”
On Dharmendra's 85th birthday, Hema Malini had posted two pictures with him on her IG handle and had penned a sweet birthday wish. She had written, "Today we celebrate Dharamji’s birthday. It is the love and affection of you fans who still watch and appreciate our movies that we remain fresh in your memories.This is what keeps us going and we need your blessings for ths togetherness to last.Thank you for all the love."
Some time ago, Hema Malini had graced the sets of Indian Idol 12, wherein she talked about a lot of things. During the show, she had narrated an interesting story when she was dating Dharmendra. The actress had shared that they were shooting for a song and for that her father had accompanied her, so that she could not spend alone time with Dharmendra. While sharing the incident, the actress had said, "Usually my mother or my aunt used to accompany me on shoots but during the shoot of one of the songs my father accompanied me as he was worried that me and Dharam ji shouldn’t spend some time alone as he knew we were friends. I remember this when we used to travel in a car my father used to immediately sit next to me but even Dharam ji was no less he used to sit at the next seat."

In an interview with Rediff.com, Hema Malini had talked about her equation with Dharmendra's first wife, Parkash, and had shared, "I didn't want to disturb anyone. I am happy with whatever Dharamji did for me and my daughters. He played the role of a father like any father would do. I guess I am happy with that. Though I have never spoken about Parkash, I respect her a lot. Even my daughters respect Dharamji's family. The world wants to know about my life in detail, but that is not for others to know. It's no one's business."
In an interview with the Deccan Chronicle, Hema Malini had talked about her decision of marrying Dharmendra. She had revealed that she had never wanted to hurt anyone because of her love, not even his first wife, and hence, she had never intruded in their life. She was quoted as saying, "The minute I saw Dharam ji, I knew he was the man for me. I wanted to spend my life with him. I also wanted to make sure that the marriage hurt nobody. His first wife and children have never felt my intrusion in their lives. I married him, but I never took him away from his first family."
