For the unversed, Sanjay Leela Bhansali was once reportedly in a relationship with ace choreographer, Vaibhavi Merchant. Although none of them had ever accepted their dating reports, but media corridors were always filled with speculations about their broken engagement. Once in a rare interview with siasat.com in 2012, Sanjay Leela Bhansali opened up about his experience with love and why he never married. In response to the same, the filmmaker admitted that he had never fallen in love with someone. He explained that his growing age has nothing to do with his love life. As per his philosophy, love can happen at any age, and maybe it could happen in the latter stages of his life. He had explained:
"I love Bela's (Sanjay Leela Bhansali's sister, Bela Segal) concept of love striking two people who are seen as past the age of marriage. Love can strike at 45 or 85. I am 49, and I am still waiting for love to happen."
